Late review but wanted to write one after my friend used it. She absolutely loved the recipes and how they were entertwined with the plot. Originally bought as a Christmas gift and it was a hit!

I love classic literature which include Jane Austen novels and I couldn't resist this book. But the main reason for my purchase was the appreciation for recipes prepared the traditional way also, I do love old recipes which uses wholesome ingredients. Beside this fact, the book is beautiful, the illustrations and text are interesting and well done. I am super happy with this book. Amazon has never disappointed me, shipping was super fast and I've received the book as described. Love it!

I love how the book includes both a recipe you can follow and the original recipe from the time period. If you're a foodie who loves Jane Austen this is the perfect addition to your collection. The book includes pictures of most of the recipes and references to the works and letters of Jane Austen where they were mentioned. The book is from the UK so some of the recipe terms were new to me, but easy to google. It has measurements in Metric and American units.

My daughter is a huge fan of Jane Austen. Her wedding was themed "Pride and Prejudice", so this book was perfect for her. The binding was fabric over heavy cardboard. The pages are a heavy paper with full-color photos and excerpts from the books. Overall nicely published with interesting recipes.

I bought this for my mom for Christmas and we both love it! It’s such a beautiful book, has great English recipes, and the author has awesome history tidbits from the era tied into the recipes. I want one for myself now!

Nice book but I thought it was a new book I was buying very disappointed that it was used not good price and should have stated it was used dont like that im funny about second hand books

Bought several copies of this book to give as gifts...my Jane Austen fan friends love it... we're planning a dinner party featuring recipes from this book.

The quality of the embossed, soft cloth cover is just the beginning -- the quality of photography and page designs makes this a book to explore again and again. Such thoughtfulness has gone into the content. Not only have recipies been tweaked for our modern tastes and supply of ingredients (alternatives are given for pigeon, for example), but we're given stories behind the foods, from recipe books of the time, to the context of their inclusion in Jane Austen's novels or letters. History lessons on the way food was served and what dinners were like in Jane's time really put you in the era. This book is such a treasure, on so many levels. it's the prettiest book I own. Even the back cover is embossed.

Il s'agit d'un cadeau que j'ai fait. J'ai commandé à l'aveuglette et je ne suis pas déçue et encore moins la personne à qui j'ai offert le livre. La couverture et belle et bien soigné (il s'agit d'un revêtement en tissu), les photos et la présentations à l'intérieur sont attrayantes et les recettes toutes très tentantes (je ne sais pas si elles ont déjà été testées). Bref très bon achat. (attention il est en anglais!)
