Deep Knowledge
"A Grower's Guide", the subtitle says it all. What an incredible reference book! While written for professionals, the text is understandable to anyone and the photos, especially of disorders and pest damage are very helpful. I only wish I'd had it 40 years ago when I began, as many do, with houseplants. My indoor plants would have benefited from the deep knowledge "Tropical Foliage Plants" offers. Micro-nutrients, interior care, sensitivities, pests, tricks for successful propagation of each plant, on and on; it's incredibly detailed and thorough. There's even some truisms that qualify as dry humor. For example, "We use Latin names for plants because Latin is a dead language and will therefore never change".Amazingly, I now live in a tropical zone, 10a, so now all of my favorite houseplants are garden giants: a 25' Schefflera, thickets of flowering Dracaena, huge Philodendrons, Bromeliads multiplying in the ground; absolutely everything is rampant. My new tool is a machete. This one book has so many of the answers I need to understand how to handle my favorite plants in this climate. Finally the book itself is along the lines of a college textbook. Hefty and stiff cover, the pages are high quality slick paper, text in several colors and the photos are all in color. The book is heavier than it's size would suggest; it will be in my library forever.

Incredible resource
This is one of those must have books for anyone working with indoor plants (or growing them). The detailed descriptions and information is a missing component in most overgeneralized 'housplant' books.
