Love the classic profile ~
One needs to purchase 'with a mount' (ie: with the inner pipe in the correct dimensions and length) when starting from scratch, as it were, in putting in a lamp post and hardwiring it to a switch in the house. Ours both came with a black pipe, not white as in the photos. You first need to run the underground wire in a trench (per directions) to the spot and allow enough wire to run up the inside of the pipe and to get the light fixture to be wired in on top. ( We guestimated and had excess out the top... but better that than not enough wire!)If your light fixture is a solar lamp... you can skip all of the wiring info. Then have a bag of gravel (need 6" under the cement in the hole) and a bag of cement (two people work best in this process... in my opinion) made for posts that needs to cure for a few hours or less. (Ours said 20 minutes... work FAST! ) We fist sawed off the end of a five gallon plastic pail to pour the gravel and then the cement into... placed carefully over the buried underground wire. (see photos)The directions clearly state to burry the outdoor wiring 18-24" in the ground ( 24" or more for deep frost winter areas) then add 6" of gravel. (Note: we drilled a few drainage holes into the base of the plastic outer sleeve that fits snugly through two holes in the outer white plastic sleeve for better bottom drainage... but that is not in the directions.)There has to be 2" left of the pole extending out of the top of the sleeve to attach the light fixture on... so measuring accurately is key.Once the concrete is shoveled into the base ( using our bottomless 5 gallon pail) we constructed a frame of thin wood pieces screwed together and to the pail to brace the pole plumb while the concrete cured... and to keep it level... checking all sides of the pole frequently! If the pole is not level... the outer sleeve will be off as well.Once THAT is all completed and the concrete is set up... remove the temporary braces and fill in the rest of the bucket with dirt or whatever you'd like...and then slip the sleeve over the pole... the bottom hole and the top hole of the sleeve fit snugly... and then wire on the light fixture. (Need a ladder and another pair of hands ...)The plastic molding of the outer sleeve has a texture to it, but any marks made with installation (dirty gloves) washes off easily with soap and water using a stiff brush. The sleeve itself sits at ground level, but is held securely with those bottom and top holes around the pole . Just add dirt or mulch up to the sleeve and it is good to go. It is not going to move anywhere. We purchased two of these, and besides the boxes being almost ripped up upon delivery, the sleeves and the poles were undamaged. The included directions are a bit hard to make out, so hopefully someone will make a video on how to install with the mount - step by step- to help other buyers. (Hint to seller!)I LOVE the end results - Two lamp posts with a very classy and substantial 'profile' to fit in with our large, 3 story, circa 1890's farmhouse. (No wimpy pole or thin light post profile would've looked good.) Recommended!

Good and pretty lamp post
Instruction was clear, installation was easy. Inner pole fits perfect with outer post. Very attractive.

Aluminum pipe won’t rot
I had to drill a hole in the pipe to attach the photo sensor that turns my light on at night. If you don’t have a drill press that can be tricky. It would be nice if the had a rubber grommet covering a pre drilled hole for that. This product is far superior to a 4x4 wood post or an old steel post. Plastic covering could break with a grass trimmer. But in a landscape setting this is the perfect product.

Good buy and looks nice.
I read the other reviews about looking like a plastic kid toy, but took a chance with ordering. All people that have visited and seen it, like it a lot. I would have preferred more wood grain look or some sharper lines on the molded edges, but given the price and function, it is a good buy. I would recommend to others, but caution if they want more detail or higher end look, you may not be happy with this, but plan on spending 2 - 3 times more. I also added a GFI outlet to the bottom section, bonding a piece of wood on the inside for additional support - looks and works great. Very satisfied.

Can't beat this post for the money
I spent days building two lamp posts out of cedar a few years ago. They were stained white and almost identical in design to the Mayne Signature post. They looked great initially but required considerable effort to keep them looking good. One of my big issues was my sprinkler system hitting them. They were always getting wet. They finally got to the point that they had to be replaced. After shopping around, I settled on the Mayne Signature post and I'm very happy with them. Up close you can tell they're not wood but from 15' away you'd never know. I really like the detail. I noticed a nearby home with posts that always looked good and was tempted to ask the owner where he got them. Now that I've seen this post, I'm certain that this is the post they have. I just ordered another one for my back yard. I just installed the two in my front yard so I can't comment on long term performance. Installing is simple. At this point, I'm very happy with them and at this price I'd say they're a bargain.

Poor quality materials but ok for price.
Decent construction but cheap materials used. I thought this was going to be a heavier duty PVC but is actually more like a cheap formed lawn ornament plastic - kind of like milk jug plastic. It would probably be fine for use where people would not be near or touching it, but poor quality nonetheless.I'm returning but a PITA to return given the size.

Looks Impressive
Has not been installed yet, but appears well made to withstand weather for years. Looks impressive!

Cheap Plastic
These looked ok, but the outer shell was hollow cheap plastic and seemed to very pourish. I was concerned that they would get very dirty and destroyed with a line trimmer. They also shipped in thin carboard sleeved that were in very poor condition when they arrived. I returned 4 of 5 (didn't return one because I threw away the cheap cardboard. I got a refund for only 3 of 4 however.
