Q: Does this model have the built in heater?

This is the standard unit without heater. The Flatmaster 2000 is the unit with a heating element. Comes in two versions Left Handed Heater 2000L ( B00O4WZH9E ) or Right Handed Heater 2000R ( B00O4WZH9E )

Q: I've been offered a deal on one of these but it's the wrong type. Is there any reason why I could not just install it upside down?

The unit draws air from outside through the right spigot so has the heater behind the left input valve. If you hang the unit upside down the heater unit would push air to outside and you would basically have and expensive extract system that warms air while exhausting it.The only way of hanging the unit so the heater pointed inwards would be to hang it back to front which means the access lid would be against the wall? I would suggest if you cannot find an outside wall to feed the unit from the correct spigot your 'deal' is not as good as it appears!

Q: How much noise does the unit make? and does the heater increase the noise level?

I've installed one of these and it is noticeable, it's a little bit like having the bathroom fan on. it does have a low setting which helps.
