Wrong color twice! No confidence in them at all
The leather was nice but sent wrong color and two entirely different thicknesses notified company and asked for refund they sent me a replacement instead wich I'm OK with but they sent the wrong color again. That's what happens when people have no pride in their work!

Color & quality may vary
Update: Second order was a disappointment (12x24"). A very thin leather had fabric glued to it I will upload a photo so you can see. the black on the backside. Usually their product is thick and 100% leather. This however is some sort of upholstery fabric or something. (see image) Olive green is actually brown (6x12"). Hard to tell in photos, but it is not as pictured. Nice thick and smells of leather. If only the color was as described it would be perfect (no fabric on the back).

Nice leather, easy to work with, but a couple of issues
I have decades of jewelry making experience, and I work a lot with leather, clay, wood, and beads. I have only previously used vegetable tanned leather for my jewelry (to my knowledge), and I’ve never tried an oil soaked or chrome tanned leather before, so when I saw this, I was interested in trying it out. First of all, don’t worry… this is NOT horse leather! It’s just the name of the leather. It’s typical cowhide leather. Also, if you’re new to leather, virtually all leather that I have purchased in the past does have an odor to it when you first get it, and it needs to air out. It’s kind of like a mothball smell….it’s not super pleasant, but it does dissipate somewhat after a while. This leather has a very strong odor, but that is to be expected with a new piece of leather. I had to read more about this leather, and I read the instructions and information on this piece of leather, which I am including in the photos. Apparently, this type of leather is easily scratched and has different shades within each sheet, and I did find that was true with this piece of leather. The leather came with some markings on it, both natural and what looked like man-made – maybe a pencil or a chalk mark. I was able to rub most of it off with my finger, but it did leave that area slightly discolored. The reason I am giving this leather 4 stars is because it comes mounted onto a cloth backing…however, as soon as I cut the leather into strips to make my earrings, the backing lifted off. I read a little bit more about this type of leather and it often does come with a backing so that the oil on the back doesn’t rub off onto peoples’ skin or onto other things, so I’m assuming this fabric backing was supposed to stay on, but it lifted off immediately. That didn’t necessarily bother me since I was just making earring pieces that aren’t going to be in direct contact with somebody’s skin, but I would think that if you were making it into a bracelet or something else that was up against someone’s skin, the fact that the backing came right off could be an issue. I did find this leather nice to work with though, it embossed easily.. although not as easily as vegetable tanned leather which is generally better for tooling and embossing, and I was able to embellish it with some gilding wax for a little bit of a shimmery color. I then sealed the pieces with a leather sealer that I use, and I thought that the earrings came out really nice. I included a picture so that you could see the finished earrings. I will definitely be using this leather to make more jewelry in the near future.

Leather with fabric backing
I did not anticipate the backing, but the leather appears to be a nice thickness, softness and quality. I love the color, but I will have to figure out how to work around the backing!
