Great value and great ball (for most people) at any price
The Wilson Staff 50 Elite does what any non-great golfer wants it to do: it flies far if you don't have a super-fast swing speed, and it has low spin which tends to make it go straight. It also has a softer than average feel, and it's great for chipping and putting. For any amateur golfer who is anywhere from slightly above average to horrible, look no further than this ball. I would honestly prefer to play this ball than any other ball at any price, including the vaunted Titleist ProV1 (which is 4x the price of these). How it works is that if you have an average to low swing speed, due to the compression this ball will fly farther than most. But conversely, if you have a very fast (pro type) swing speed, the ball will fly a little less than the balls pros prefer. What's also great about this ball is that it's cheap, roughly $1/ball. So if you aren't very good and lose a lot of balls in a round, it hurts less financially when you lose one. Plus the ball is available in orange, my preferred ball color. Orange balls are much easier to see in the sky on an overcast day than a white ball. And since very few people play orange balls, you are less likely to confuse your ball on the ground with someone else's ball. This ball should really be rated a full 5 stars by everyone who chooses to play it. If you are a near-pro golfer, you already know that you want a ball with less compression and more spin, to match your fast swing speed and ability to "work" (deliberately curve) the ball. But if you are anything less than a great golfer, buy this ball. Most of the negative customer reviews here are ridiculous. Check out the current one star reviews. One says the balls feel like rocks, another says they feel like marshmallows - obviously these are in between those two extremes. Then some say that the wrong product was sent or they got the wrong color from their seller. That is not a review of THIS product, and is no reason for one star. And there are some 3 star ratings that claim the ball "wears out" after a full round (18 holes) or two. Look, if you can play an entire round without losing a ball, retire that ball. Considering the costs of playing golf, why be cheap and play a $1 ball for more than one round? Serious tennis players do not keep playing the same balls match after match, and there's no reason anyone should play a $1 golf ball for more than one round. Frankly I'd love to finish a round with the same ball from the first tee, something I've never done.

Shockingly suprised
I started to buy these balls a few times in the past and always would hit save for later. Last week I said what the heck, at best I'm out 15 bucks right. So to make a long story short I teed one up on my Tuesday night league and right off the club I noticed a soft send off, and on my second shot onto the green I saw a good amount of spin which totally surprised me. I played that same ball all 9 holes and due to a couple miss putts a 38 was added to my score card. I am truly amazed with this ball and it's durability that I will definitely buy more especially at this price. I have always used titleist balls but I have to say this is going to be my new go to for now on. I gained distance and added more control and spin with this ball. Wilson has always been under the golf radar as far as paying a lot for advertising goes which allows them to offer much lower cost on their products. I have to say this ball beats Titleist balls hands down. And saves me more money for the 19th hole. If you haven't done so yet please buy a dozen of these 50 Elites and see for yourself the difference this ball will make for you as well. Oh the putting was such a difference also with a soft feel off the putter face. Thanks Wison for such a super deal at a ridiculous price. "Hit em straight and long friends.

Pretty good ball for the price
Update: I've upgraded these balls from 2 to 4 stars based on a few things, but primarily the carry and compressibility of the ball. In addition, the ball stops fairly well on the green when I'm purposely hitting my lob wedge (60 degree). Originally, I felt like they didn't carry well and had a bit of a funny feel to them, but since then, I'm hitting better than my initial evaluation and they've compared very favorably to some good golf balls from TaylorMade and Calloway. I knew my assessment was up when I was disappointed that I'd lost one of them (in seemingly plain sight) on a pretty good golf shot (close to the green but in some long grass). In any case, for the price these are pretty good balls and generally perform as well or better than balls at around 20 dollars a dozen. I'm leaving the original review, but this just shows that it probably is more about how well you're hitting the ball.I'm not typically fussy about golf balls and to some extent, consider variation as part of the challenge. I mostly play Nike balls (I guess that's going to change), but thought I'd give these a try based on price. In my past round, I purposely played a Titlelist (not Pro-V1, but I can't recall if it was a Velocity), a Nike PD Long, a Nike Mojo, and the Wilson. Without question, Wilson provided less feel and a slight reduction in distance (perhaps as high as ten percent). I will say that I wasn't hitting in peak form (my timing was a bit off), but it was the same for each of the balls. I did get pars with the Wilson, but in the end, always felt like there was something not quite right about them. For reference purposes, I'm roughly about a 13 handicap player who loses most of my strokes still on the short game. I will right now say that my assessment is primarily based on feel, but I think in this case, these balls are a miss or in golf terms a double-bogey.Their appearance itself looks very plastic-like and certainly don't come close to having the feel of the Nike PD Soft (which I quite often use and like very much). My guess is that Wilson is trying to improve these balls right now.
