It thrives in a wide range of light conditions, is drought and rabbit resistant once established, and attracts birds with its seasonal flowers and berries. Perfect for professional gardeners seeking a low-maintenance, elegant, and eco-friendly landscaping solution. ## Description Ophiopogon japonicus 'Nana', commonly known as Dwarf Mondo Grass, is a versatile and charming ornamental grass that adds texture, contrast, and elegance to any garden landscape. This beloved garden favorite is celebrated for its compact size, dense growth habit, and striking dark green foliage, making it an ideal choice for borders, edging, and ground cover. The Common Dwarf Mondo Grass is prized for its tufts of narrow, strap-like leaves that form dense clumps of lush greenery, providing a low-maintenance and evergreen ground cover that remains attractive year-round. In summer, the plant produces small spikes of delicate lavender or white flowers that rise above the foliage, adding a touch of whimsy and charm to the landscape. The flowers are followed by glossy black berries that persist into winter, providing visual interest and attracting birds to the garden. Historically, Ophiopogon japonicus 'Nana' has been valued for its ornamental and practical uses in garden design. Its compact size and slow growth make it an excellent choice for edging pathways, lining garden beds, or filling in gaps between stones, where it adds texture and contrast to the landscape. The plant's tolerance for shade and dry conditions makes it well-suited for difficult-to-plant areas, such as under trees or along slopes, where it thrives with minimal maintenance. Additionally, its fibrous roots help stabilize soil, prevent erosion, and improve soil structure, making it a valuable addition to erosion-prone areas. In conclusion, the allure of Ophiopogon japonicus 'Nana' lies in its compact size, evergreen foliage, and adaptability to various garden settings. Whether used as a ground cover, edging plant, or container accent, the Common Dwarf Mondo Grass adds beauty and functionality to any garden landscape. With its ornamental appeal, ecological benefits, and ease of cultivation, Ophiopogon japonicus 'Nana' is a cherished and indispensable addition to any garden. ## Features - Alternate names: Dwarf Lilyturf, Japanese Lilyturf, Monkey Grass, Kyoto, Ophiopogon japonicus 'Nana', 'Nanus', O. jaburan 'Nana', O. japonica 'Nana' - evergreen foliage, low-growing habit, helps stabilize soil on slopes, attracts hummingbirds, attracts birds, slow to moderate growth rate - grows in full sun, part shade, and full shade, useful on slopes and banks, can grow under trees (not pine or walnut) - rabbit resistant once established, drought tolerant once established, tolerates salt exposure, tolerates light foot traffic - Brings lasting beauty, graceful texture, and timeless appeal to garden beds, borders, and landscape plantings, complementing both traditional and contemporary garden designs. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0F1DQBYL3 | | Brand Name | Classy Groundcovers | | Color | Green | | Expected Plant Height | 2.5 inches | | Indoor Outdoor Usage | Indoor, Outdoor | | Manufacturer | Classy Groundcovers | | Manufacturer Part Number | 200328 | | Material Features | GMO Free | | Moisture Needs | Regular Watering | | Number of Items | 25 | | Number of Pieces | 1 | | Other Special Features of the Product | Attracts Birds, Drought Tolerant, Erosion Control, Evergreen | | Style Name | Showy; Elegant | | Sunlight Exposure | Full Shade | | UPC | 840496901517 840496901500 | | USDA Hardiness Zone | 6,7,8,9,10 | | Unit Count | 25 Count | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Classy Groundcovers - **Color:** Green - **Expected Plant Height:** 2.5 inches - **Indoor/Outdoor Usage:** Indoor, Outdoor - **Material Feature:** GMO Free - **Moisture Needs:** Regular Watering - **Special Feature:** Attracts Birds, Drought Tolerant, Erosion Control, Evergreen - **Sunlight Exposure:** Full Shade - **USDA Hardiness Zone:** 6,7,8,9,10 - **Unit Count:** 25 Count ## Images ![Dwarf Mondo Grass, 25 Pots - 3 1/4 inch Square - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71wEVN23KwL.jpg) ![Dwarf Mondo Grass, 25 Pots - 3 1/4 inch Square - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41c08mVJW+L.jpg) ![Dwarf Mondo Grass, 25 Pots - 3 1/4 inch Square - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51axP59QO0L.jpg) ![Dwarf Mondo Grass, 25 Pots - 3 1/4 inch Square - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/512N32LlxoL.jpg) ![Dwarf Mondo Grass, 25 Pots - 3 1/4 inch Square - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51OyaUVBGwL.jpg) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.cy/products/806058130-dwarf-mondo-grass-25-pots-3-1-4-inch-square](https://www.desertcart.com.cy/products/806058130-dwarf-mondo-grass-25-pots-3-1-4-inch-square) --- *Product available on Desertcart Cyprus* *Store origin: CY* *Last updated: 2026-10-11*
