What’s the diffrrence between V1 vs v2?

The difference appears to be that V1 has tick marks along the laser line for spacing objects equally. The V2 is a line only. Look at the two pictures under each level and you will see the difference.

I just received my laser level. the only laser line i get is the vertical line. no horizontal line. do i have a bad level???
