This beautiful compendium of popular mythological and fairy tale characters presents a fun, whimsical look at this rich culture. The drawings are perfect for adding some color a la adult coloring book or stand perfectly fine on their own. I appreciate the descriptions following each page for more information. Really, it goes well with the author's other book, Vasilisa's Russian Fairy Tales so if you're planning on getting this, you might as well get both - you won't regret it.I've shared this book with family and friends of all ages and they agree: it's a lovely book!

I had the first edition of this book with the tan cover, and I colored the pictures and hung them on my daughter’s nursery walls. I decided to order a replacement to have the book to keep and ended up getting the second edition of this book. I like that it has some new creatures, but it’s TOO different from the original. Drawings were redone and to be honest they’re not as nice as the drawings in the first edition. I wish I had just photocopied the original drawings and kept that edition. Lesson learned :(
