Well made and great little thumb grinder set! We had a different set from another manufacturer and the one side that screwed together (to fill) was plastic (company said acrylic) that screwed into metal. Well, after a year of use, the one grinder broke inside on the "acrylic" side rendering the grinder inoperable (a chunk of plastic with threads broke off inside). NOT so with this set!! It is metal on metal!! The plastic (or acrylic) tube is basically just glued into the metal housing and its primary purpose is to see the contents and how much is left. I'm pretty sure these will last quite a while!! Currently I'm using for salt (used course ground salt in them) and the other is filled with a smoked pepper, great for throwing in your pocket and seasoning your favorite soup!!! Well made, attractive AND practical!!

Had High hopes BUT I was disappointed. They are too small, hard to fill the chamber with a small amount of salt or pepper and have the center pin stay centered to screw on the bottom. Pepper works better than salt Salt did not come out and in less than a week it was rusty crusty on the inside. If you use S&P alot, you'll spend half the time filling or trying to fill them up. Already bought the standard S&P grinders and will discard

I love love love these. They work great. They like nice on the table. They don't take up all the room on the table. They are easy to use. They are easy to fill. And they were priced right!!!!

I think I might upgrade to 5 stars if I can find better salt. I am using Kirkland Himalayan salt in it and I think it is too finely ground for this grinder. The result is that pressing it down is tough the first time you use it. It gets easier after the first press but my kids have a hard time. I love the coarse grind of the pepper. I don't think it is adjustable and some might not like it that coarse.

Very good buy. You can't go wrong for the price on these. Quality is great and they grind salt & pepper as needed. They are small and intended for the table, best used for individual dinner/salad plates, etc. Except for the clear plastic window, all other parts are metal.

This product looks nice but there is a flaw with the see though plastic part where it screws to the metal bottom it will crack just from tipping over on the table and when the plastic threads are gone there is no way to close it after refilling, I think if they were all metal they would last.

For now I'll give 4 stars, until I see how they hold up with some more use; but I will say that so far I'm pretty happy with these. The mechanism that grinds is easy to use and I don't have to use much pressure to do it either. The grip is nice and they don't move about in my hand, while I'm grinding. I had read some reviews that stated they couldn't work them easily or that they slid around, but I personally haven't had any issues with that. The only thing I've noticed is that the acrylic gets pretty scratched up on the inside when grinding peppercorns, if that is the kinda thing that would bother you. If they hold up, I'll definitely be buying a couple more as gifts. Update: After using them for some time, I've noticed my salt began to take on a rusty color. I unscrewed the grinder to find quite a bit of rust mixed with ground salt at the base, where salt exits the grinder. I cleaned the area and took a photo of the rust. Still fab for pepper; but I really wouldn't recommend for salt, unless you enjoy a little rust in your salt.

These are very nice but they're not small and portable as I thought. As such I am giving them as a wedding gift and I recommend them for that. They're not too expensive and they're a pretty cool addition to a newlywed's dinner table.
