Great resource
Best case law reference for law enforcement out there. Easy to retrieve information, plainly written and well organized. Worth the price

Used for college and actually want to keep
The books required for college in the United States are generally grossly overpriced, excessively windy with their wordage, and intolerably boring. This book was none of these things. It gives all the information on Constitutional Issues that a police officer should know before his first day on the beat. It is current with the times and explains not only what the law is currently but how we got to where we are and why. It's hard to admit this, but I actually enjoyed reading this text. In addition it is priced reasonably.

Overall, a quick and easy read with comprehensive coverage on important issues
Overall, the book was well written and easy to read. It was organized and covered the important issues faced by law enforcement. The only input I have for the author is to refer to more of the non-pertinent cases informally. I know that is difficult, but if it's not imperative for the reader to know the name of the case...then is should be stated generically. The author did a good job of generically referring to numerous cases, but the book would be slightly better if that was done more often throughout the book. Most cops have no desire to quote case law by name, instead they would rather memorize it for substance and then have a footnote or a reference to look up the name of the case if needed. Having said that, I need to state this review is strictly based on my ability to study this book for a promotional exam. The book had about 100 cases that I made notes about and attempted to memorize the case names. That's way too hard, but if the cases had not been referred to my name and instead just by substance (Ex: Officers need search warrant to serve arrest warrant in third party home), then it would be easier to study.

Awesome Price
I love how much cheaper the book was then at the bookstore. It also has a lot of relevant information. The only downside is that here is no companion website to help study

Seems like the earlier editions are a little more user friendly and understandable. I enjoy the real world examples though.

my second edition to purchase
I have purchased an older edition a few years ago. this book i keep on my desk at work and more than one time has provided me direction with an almost exact scenario that i or one of my people are experiencing.
