Tolle Musik
Danny Elfman hat das gewisse Etwas. Auch, wenn man 50 shades of Grey differenziert gegenüber steht, ist die Musik von Elfman fantastisch.

Elfman is the perfect choice for this score!
Danny Elfman is certainly the right composer for a film like this. He has put together an impressive resume throughout the years composing music for films like To Die For, Batman, Red Dragon, MIB, Nightmare Before Christmas, and my personal favorite: Edward Scissorhands. From dramas to cartoons, Elfman has tinkered with it all. One advantage he has is his ability to musically capture the weird, macabre, and unusual. I think this is why he has always been Tim Burton's "go to composer"! So, what do you say about "Fifty Shades of Grey" through the music score? Is it a romance score? Is it a thriller? Sinister? Well, from listening to this score, Elfman dabbles with all of these themes. We start off with a great opening track, "Shades of Grey". It definitely has that Danny Elfman sound to it. It's an elegant opening track where the piano leads and is backed by strings and we are given our first taste of a spoonful of sinister, a dash of thriller all supported by the edginess of something beautiful. The entire score continues this back and forth play of conjuring imagines of something mysterious, dangerous, and beautiful. Tracks like "Ana's Theme" and "Clean You Up" have been crafted establish the romantic moments while "Going for Coffee" provide a bit of playfulness. For many of the cues, even the romantic/playful ones, Elfman cleverly maintains an edge to them. This is no "Pride and Prejudice" story here and Elfman's music doesn't let you forget that. One interesting track entitled "Bliss" incorporates a choir and it sounds more like "Heavenly Bliss". One can only imagine what is happening here! The score closes with the longest track (6:23) entitled "Variations on a Shade". It contains some of the major themes established throughout the score and utilizes the primary percussion instrument used in several cues...a drum kit. Using the drum kit in these particular tracks gives me the mental image of Mr. Grey being rich, powerful, and in control. It provides a "cool vibe" while backing up the traditional stringed orchestra.Elfman has put together a perfect score for a film like this. His experience has helped to musically capture the emotions of the story and the "shades of grey" he paints with cleverly brings it all to life. There are many different directions a composer could have taken with this score and I feel that Danny Elfman has made the right choices here. The CD comes with a 16 page book that contains pictures from the film and credits for orchestra and choir. There are 16 tracks and the total running time for the CD is 47 minutes. It's a great CD and I recommend this one.
