Decent
**Intro and which songs are the best**In my opinion, this album by Electric Six is not as good as Fire and Switzerland, but it's certainly respectable. I see from the popularity ratings of the MP3 files that Gay Bar, Pt. 2 has been getting the most downloads. I'm going to go against the flow and say that Formula 409 and Graphic Designer are better songs. Gay Bar, Pt. 2 certainly isn't bad, but it's nothing compared to the original Gay Bar song.**The style of the music**As with other Electric Six albums, there are plenty of non-sensical and silly lyrics. There is heavy use of vocoder in some of the songs, like Making Progress. References to sex, love, relationships, and women are made, but they are usually depicted in a silly way, and not as explicitly as in Fire and Switzerland. Overall, as with other E6 music, the band goes beyond the normal things that the Rock and Punk Rock genres consist of. There are definitely elements of Disco. Dick Valentines vocals and lyrics are way more silly than normal Rock. There are other instruments, such as trumpets. It is these things that make E6 music particularly special. They aren't afraid to be different.**Conclusion and buying advice**I'm going to give this album 4 stars because I don't think it has as many songs that are of the caliber of the ones on Fire and Switzerland. I would say the best songs on Flashy are Formula 409 and Graphic Designer, so if you are going for purchase of single songs, get those two first. If you liked previous E6 albums, I think there is a good chance that you will also like this one. The musical style, and the goofy lyrics coming from Dick Valentine remain fairly unchanged. Finally, don't hesitate to go see this band live if you have a chance. Their concerts don't cost very much, and Dick Valentine has this odd strange presence that is difficult to describe...you'll just have to see it.

It's Showtime!
At first I didn't like this album as much as their previous albums. It's got some more slow jams and a slightly different feel than the older stuff. After listening to it more and more it gets better every time. It feels a little different than the older stuff, but is just as good. Flashy Man and Heavy Woman are both great. If you're an E6 fan you need this, no question. Shoot, everyone needs this.

Electric Six at their experimental high point
If you're expecting another "Fire", turn back now. Flashy is probably the furthest that Electric Six has gone from their roots, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. This album is far more influenced by New Wave and garage rock than their other records, and pretty much throws the disco / cock rock swagger of their early work out the window. That said, it's still irreverently hilarious music. Dick Valentine is as sharp as ever, whether he's addressing casual fans' desire for another "Fire" on Gay Bar Part Two or chronicling the woman behind the dictator on Watching Evil Empires Fall Apart. There are a few misses here, though. "Your Heat is Rising" and "Face Cuts" are just dull, and "Making Progress", with its huge pile of vocoder, is unnecessary. That being said, there's still enough here to keep diehard E6 fans and music aficionados happy. "Formula 409" is a respectable single, and "We Were Witchy White Women's" ridiculous narrative is sure to please. This is one of my favorite E6 records, but it's certainly not for everyone.

The station wagon to his Ferrari.
Excellent album, songs are all unique and more lyrically diverse than the bands previous albums. It seems it has 1-upped in stature from last year's Great "I Shall Exterminate..." album but fails to equal the incredible "Switzerland" album from the year before. Though not as strong of an album, it still brings the rock in all forms. "Your Heat Is Rising" and "We Were Witchy White Women" would be my picks of the litter.

GOOD, NEW SOUND
This is an excellent cd. This sound highlights Electric Six's new energy and edge making. Bottom line: is to get deep with the sound. Listen to the album and go with it. Be surprised. Lovers Beware, Heat Is Rising, Face Cuts And Evil Empires Fall Apart are among the best songs. Someone who has never heard of E6 I would Recommend their first album (Fire) & Flashy.

The XBox to your Atari.
I started listening to Electric Six via rathergood.com, and by some strange twist of fate, found the loose CD of Fire at a flea market. Four albums later, and stronger than ever, Flashy is released upon the world. Hypersexual, as blunt as an orange thrown into the face, and fun as hell to listen to.
