Seagate BarraCuda Pro 1TB Internal Hard Drive HDD – 2.5 Inch SATA 6 Gb/s 7200 RPM 128MB Cache for Computer Desktop PC - Amazon Exclusive - Frustration Free Packaging (ST1000LMZ49)

The drive came in an OEM package, ie no documentaion/driver cd or even Manufacturers packaging. The drive was packaged in an anti-static sealed bag, with plastic end supports inside a plain brown card box with I think Polish language writing on a label, this package was then inside a well packed Amazon box. Due to the packaging, I was a bit apprehensive that perhaps the drive was not actually brand new but having checked it out with CrystalDiskInfo, the run-time hours were very low indeed - I first installed Windows 7, then upgraded to W 10, so I expected to have some uptime and all was in line with my estimation. So my fears that the drive was not new were unfounded I am glad to report. I chose this 'Pro' drive over the straight Seagate 500GB Barracuda because the 'Pro' spins at 7200 vs 5400 rpm of the non-Pro and is therefore slightly quicker, 160MB/s vs 140MB/s, but even more important is the 5yrs for the 'Pro' vs 2yrs warranty for the non-Pro. The drive is for use in a low power email server (fanless Gigabyte BRIX N2807 GB-BXBT-2807, 8GB RAM, W10 Pro) running 24x7 so reliability and low power are my key considerations. The drive is not silent, as in how silent an SSD would be, but you need to be less than 2 feet away in a quiet room to hear the spinning. I don't have a non-Pro equivalent to compare the Pro version to. The email server sits about 4 ft away from my desktop machine and I can't hear any noises from the email server. The cost uplift between the Pro and non-Pro versions is about GBP 10 or about 30%. For me, GBP 10 more for increased reliability, ie 5yrs vs. 2yrs (it's not quite as simple as that, but generally a manufacturer will only offer longer warranty period if they believe that one device has a better expected life than another), is easily justified for my application, and my peace of mind.

The drive is nice and quiet. Data rates seem good. 100% reliable so far. A great brand.

Excellent replacement for memory drive

Installed as a 2nd drive in a 2011 macmini. Works fine, packaged fine.

Did not work after a nightmare os installation and seller did not bother contacting me after I complained

I used the disk to replace the failing hard drive in the laptop I am typing this review on. As you can see it worked. I used it to replace a 5200rpm drive, and there is a noticeable performance increase.

Did not recieve the correct item as the order stated Barracudapro MODEL ST1000LMZ49 and have recieved Barracuda MODEL ST1000LM049 The Specification appears to be similar apart from the product description. Shame I only noticed after installing otherwise this would have been returned.

First thing first, hdd was hard to fit in with the previous frame. Secondly, once OS - Win 10 Pro x64 was installed, it started making noise - Clicking & Chirping / screeching noise; this still ongoing. Run the test with SeaTools, it shows PASS but run the fix ALL - Long, still getting same noise. From the storage perspective, it is 1 TB but only gives 930 GB of usable space. Also, RAM's capacity got lowered; had 16 GB but now 15.5GB (Usable); Very strange! I purchased Seagate 1 TB BarraCuda Pro 2.5 but came without Pro but check with SeaTools it shows 7200 RPM, 128 MB Cache, SATA 6Gb; not sure where Pro should be indicated! I hope Amazon and Seagate will provide the replacement HDD sooner with correct specification.

Seagate is a brand leader and product is also working like that.

Got this because the original hard drive, that is sitting on top of the XBOX, up and died. Installed this hard drive inside, turned on, connected USB flash for XBOX software and it started installing. XBOX runs great and games work and load a little faster than the stock hard drive. Will update this review if something goes wrong.

The frustration-free packaging is a real joke, you receive a hard drive in bubble wrap, the drive is in an already opened anti-static bag. When I checked the serial number on the manufacturer's website, it was no longer even covered by a warranty!

Unfortunately, I purchased a ps4 from someone and the hard drive was broken. I bought this to replace the broken one and it was super easy to install set up. Pretty fast too. I'm very happy with this. My ps4 is working better than ever now :)

Secondo me uno dei migliori articoli nel formato proposto: 2,5", 1 TB, 128 MB di cache. Ottimo per sostituire un vecchio HD in un portatile o per qualsiasi altro uso nel quale sia importante la performance, senza che siano compromesse altre caratteristiche, come ad esempio l'affidabilità. Per l'affidabilità bisogna tener conto che gli SSD non sono MAI convenienti nel rapporto qualità prezzo, altre sono le valutazioni da farsi per un loro acquisto, ad esempio le finalità d'uso, essendo consapevoli che per i prodotti che garantiscono una maggiore affidabilità nel tempo il prezzo sale in maniera esponenziale.
