So is this guaranteed to arrive in one piece? I’ve read a lot of the reviews for it and I’m a little put off by it.

that's been a long time ago but from what I remember it was one piece and had no problems with it. there all n a box now in the sell pile.

It's 8 inches in height and maybe 4-5 inches in width.

Can these be used outside?

yes they can but they may end up "missing" ....It's made of poly resin and it's wings are plastic. It's a good looking piece, I have two others from the Chen collection. I don't know if I would want them exposed to the elements... But it would enhance any garden or porch.
