It's amazing! My partner and decided after watching a documentary on bentos (google Begin Japanology) that we would gift each other a bento box and pack each other's lunches every day. We both did some extensive research on our own and both ended up settling on Monbento - it seemed straight forward, reviewers liked it, and if you really want to go all out, you can create a custom bento box on Monbento's website. Warning: shipping alone is $25 (which is why I came back to Amazon to just buy the all black one) on top of the $30 the box costs. We would like to use our bento lunches to help with weight loss and developing better nutritional habits. The difficulty in picking a bento box was trying to figure out the right size. As much as I wish I knew metric, I don't. How much salad is 1 liter?? I don't know! If we get something too small then we'll end up snacking or buying lunch anyway; if we get something too big the whole plan goes out the window. This bento box is a great size: it fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and is a little bit longer than short chopsticks. The two compartments are smart: salad and vegetables in one, some carb and protein in the other. Or, if you want to go light, you could fit a nice lunch in just one. The airtight seals are in fact, air tight. And the one little dividing cup it comes with fits well. This bento box is pretty: the "soft touch" is actually very nice. The seams are well manufactured and the pieces fit perfectly. Interestingly, and we didn't notice until we played around with it, the two tiers are not flush, they taper a little bit. It's just slightly smaller on the bottom than the top. Perhaps it makes it easier to hold. Monbento has solid marketing and design: from the sexy packaging to the cute tutorials on how to use and maximize your "new companion" this little bento box is a great experience. It's still a little steep to pay $30 for what is effective a lunch box, but as others have suggested, it's much more than a lunch box. It's your very own bento! I also bought the 3 piece silicone baking mold set and I think that will come in handy for extra compartmentalizing and food prep.

I've been using this bento for a month and so far it has been awesome! Total capacity is about 1L per instruction manual, and there is definitely enough room to pack lunch for an adult. I never put them in microwave just because I am skeptical about microwaving plastic. And I use hand washing instead of dish washer. But according to the manual it should be okay to use in microwave & dishwasher. I got two colors - black and litchi (light baby pink). With the light color one, you definitely need to watch out for dark color sauce like ketchup, curry, spaghetti, especially heating up with the sauce could cause the inside of bento box to change color. But with the black one there is no such issue. When put oily food in it, it's a little harder to clean, just like any other plastic container. But with the help of kitchen napkins, it's really not that difficult. I purchased the monbento bag. It fits well, with a little extra room for utensils and napkins after you put the bento in. The bag can also protect bento box from hitting your other stuffs in the backpack or office bag causing the outside layer to peel off. But of course any bag would work. I just thought their bag is cute so I got it. Wanting to eat a bit healthier and cheaper meant bringing lunch with me. I however really didn't want a sack tagging along with me at work. I'm an adult and the monbento presents much better if you have to stick it on a shelf in plain view. It's enough for a bit of salad in one box, or more than I usually buy from the canteen if I use both. As others have said the space between the top lid and intermediary lid is enough to fit some low profile silverware. On a whole it's a bit expensive but I think I'll come out ahead in the long run. The monbento is not the largest bento by far but it is of a size to be worth while without being luggage. Up front there is really only one flaw the strap or "elastic joint" as it's listed is 100% elastic. So I see the day when it will become a bit loose, but the lids are tight so it's only a minor flaw. The divider is an insert and not a molded part of the box; it can be slid smoothly along the inside walls from one end to the other. This makes it more a "keep you rice out of your beans" or "Corn out of your peas" sort of thing. It's not so tight it will stop sauces but it's a bento box divider meaning it was never really meant to. Also while it says microwave safe dishwasher safe I'm not. Hand washing isn't such a hard thing with the monbento. Also if you opt for a cheap silicon mold you can microwave what needs heating all the way into oblivion without risking the box or the rest of the food. All told I am very happy with my monbento it fits my needs, it looks good, and is a excellent portion size.

Lunch box très design avec texture agréable au toucher. Très étanche avec un système de petite soupape et une sangle large et élastique. Pratique, robuste et transport en sécurité (même les plats en sauce). Compatible au micro-ondes et au lave-vaisselle. Petit compartiment pour séparer une sauce ou fromage,.... Encombrement très faible et quantité "embarquée" suffisante. Large choix de couleur. Excellent produit.

La recomiendo. Práctica, limpia, de buena calidad, elegante, buen tamaño. Te permite llevar 2 platos, cargar más ración, o menos sin tener que llevar toda la fiambrera (sólo una de las mitades). He llevado caldo, pasta, guisos, etc. Es de muy buena calidad, aunque el precio es algo elevado se amortiza con las comidas!. Tengo fiambrera para muchos años!!!

Best lunch box I've ever used! It's super solid, easy to clean and practical. My wife makes my lunches and she finds this is a lot easier to prepare them compared to the regular containers she used to use in my regular lunch bag. For work this size is perfect for the small fridge we have and have to share with all my other colleagues. The 1L size is perfect for a regular lunch (I was afraid it was going to be too small but the optimization of the volume vs size is spot on)! The thing that made me curious about this product was the bento box japanese style and I love it even more since I've been using it. I've been recommending it to a bunch of friends and colleagues. They didn't understand why I loved my lunch box so much until they saw it in action. I've read reviews about not putting it in microwaves, but if you follow the instructions and don't go over the recommended power and time of heating in the microwave, it works perfectly fine and doesn't warp the lids.
