It's worth a read, but not so complete
The book is worth a read but its content is somehow superficial or incomplete, depending on the reader's expectation. Since it doesn't have any official suport from the band or most closely related people, I think it couldn't be much better, anyway. There's almost no proper interviews with band members, except for reproductions from magazines (mostly Spin). On the other hand, the most relevant part of the book are focused on the early years of the band members in Bay Area, and the history about the context of their life before commercial success is quite comprehensive. I found it interesting because, as a group, that social and cultural scenario was what really defined them and their music. From people related to that period comes the most revelant and interesting interviews as well. From the Dookie worldwide explosion onwards, chapters sound almost like fillers. The text itself is very easy-reading, even for a non-English speaker like me.Well, whilst it is probably one of the best options around when it comes to a Green Day biography, it wasn't enough for me. As the fan I have been for a lifetime, I still want to know a lot more about their lives. But, I would buy and read it again. ;)

Odd Pacing Aside, An Excellent Look at the Career of Green Day
Nobody Likes You: Inside the Turbulent Life, Times and Music of Green Day takes readers on a world tour of Green Day from the early lives of Billie, Mike and Tre through the release of the American Idiot album. The biography covers every major Green Day release, taking readers into the studio and on tour with the band through their roller coaster of a career. From humble beginnings in blue collar families to multi-platinum success to political activism, Nobody Likes You has just about everything a Green Day fan could desire and is a solid look at pop-punk culture. If I have any criticism about Nobody Likes You, it's that the book focused a bit too much on the early years of Green Day (the Gilman Street years, prior to the release of Dookie). While I understand the bay area's role in punk rock, perhaps a few too many pages were dedicated to this time period. I'll admit my introduction to Green Day came at the same time as many others, with the release of Dookie and while I found the parts of the book set in the pre-Dookie era interesting and educational, the minutia of detail in which the Gilman Street era is covered began to drag after awhile.Otherwise, I found Nobody Likes You to be a great biography. One gets a true appreciation for what happens when a bunch of kids who come from working-class backgrounds and the San Fransisco underground punk movement suddenly find themselves releasing an album that would go on to sell 10 million copies at age 20. The members of Green Day seem to have remained humble and true to themselves. An excellent read for fans of Green Day, those interested in the Bay Area underground punk scene in the 80s, or even people who enjoy good biographies.

Good Book
It was a good read. Finished it in one afternoon. Seemed as well researched aa it could be considering it doesn't seem to be authorized.

More than still! Everyone loves you!
As usual, Green Day exceeds my expectations. The story of a bunch of kids who were just kids, "growing up" out of the East Bay punk scene is vicariously the way a lot of kids grew up in that decade. They let everyone in and to be a part of them. So much love! Still breathing? Still running and jumping loving and playing strong! The revolution has only just begun!

Not enough details
This book lack of details and its pure focus on the gilman street scene for almost half the book should be noted. The book fastforwarded everything that happened there after, including details about each album. After I read Spitz biography about Bowie I was just expecting more.

A Must have for any Green Day fan...
After reading other reviews of this book, I wasn't convinced it was going to be any good, but thought what the heck. How wrong I was. If you are not a fan of Green Day, but have an interest in punk rock or music in general, or if you like a good biography and story then you'll be immensely satisfied with this book. It's a great history lesson of how the punk rock scene evolved and how three ordinary, under privalegded guys became international superstars. If you are a Green Day fan, like myself (huge huge huge fan) then this certainly is the boom for you. I love their music and knew a few odd bits of trivia but this book provides a massive insight into their lives and story of how they came to be the band we love and how they changed the world of punk rock and music forever. I dont usually read books as such (I'm a comic/graphic novel guy) but icouldnt put this one down. You'll have moments of wonderful realisation that bring a smile to your face as you read it, what they went through, how they are the same as you and how inspired you feel by what they went through, how they went about it and dealt with the highs and lows, all of it. This is a truly great book and if you love Green Day then it is certainly for you and will not disappoint.

Amazing!
When I read this book I was blown away. The details that are included are extremely personal as the information has been gathered from the band members themselves and the the family of the band. Before I read the book I was not aware of the personal conditions that Billie Joe, Mike and Tre grew up in and it strengthened my love for them and the music they produce.Amazing eye opener and worth a read even if you are not a Green Day fan!

Big Yawn.
Sadly, given the excitement and adrenaline of Green Day's musical catalogue, this is staggeringly dull. I gave up part way through and did not return to it. Not a patch on the biographies of virtually any British Band you could care to name.

A good read.
A little dated but covers the early years well with good background information and excerpts from personal interviews with the band. Well written and has photos. Will only take you as far as 'American Idiot' but as many people I've talked to (and a lot of the kids I teach) seem to think that this was when Green Day first 'arrived' I would recommend it to anyone looking for more info about the beginnings of the band.

Great read
I've been a Green Day fan for years, and saw them live for the first time a couple of weeks ago at Manchester County Cricket Club. They were amazing and made me want to find out everything about them, hence purchasing this book. The book concentrates heavily on their early years and how the punk music scene started in California and how Green Day became a part of it. Was dissapointed that there wasnt much mention of their personal lives as adults, which I would have liked, but still a good read for any Green Day fan.

Introduced me to some great bands
This book introduced me to a number of great lesser known bands (Operation Ivy and Isocracy to name two) and the general Bay Area punk scene, a great read.

Great!
Have only reached around the half way point so far but it's a excellent read! A fair amount of the start talks about other local bands as well as detailed info on how Gilman Street started and progressed before Green Day, which some may not like, but it's all essencial, seems a thorough biography, great reading for any big Green Day fan.Special thanks to the seller, halcyonbooksuk, for such a fantastic price and amazingly equally as good delivery! Thankyou!

Biografia ufficiale, ma di lettura impegnativa
Comprato perchè biografia ufficiale e riconosciuta dalla band stessa, ma essendo in lingua originale, è di difficile lettura per chi non conosce l'inglese a un buon livello.
