The BEST peanut butter substitute out there!!
This is the absolute BEST faux peanut butter I've found. The texture and color and overall experience is very true to classic peanut butter. It has a nutty flavor. Let's be honest: nothing is going to taste like peanut butter except actual peanut butter. Even so, I find it delicious! (MUCH better than the competitors.) I have something to give my son who has a peanut and tree nut allergy. He can have that childhood experience of eating a peanut butter sandwich. And I am able to still enjoy almost-peanut butter sandwiches. Sneaky Chef No-Nut butter saved the day!For your Info: the primary ingredients are "yellow peas and canola oil." It also contains "sugar (tapioca starch), palm oil, salt, mono and diglycerides, *cocoa powder,* and natural flavors." It is made in a facility that processes soy and has a "peas (legumes)" allergy warning. This is the entire nutritional info on my packaging. So, watch out if your child has a cocoa, legume, or soy allergy. It is "non-GMO" and "free from peanuts, tree nuts, and gluten."

Gritty, runny, and tastes terrible
i used to love this product, until they changed it. It is now gritty, yet no matter how much you mix it, it is also runny. You can’t make a sandwich with it because it will run out of the bread, and you can’t use it to dip apple slices because it will drip off. Not that you would want to because it tastes terrible. Why oh why did they change the recipe???? It was such a great product, creamy and delicious and almost better than peanut butter. This is awful! Please, please, please bring back the old recipe!!!!

Great alternative
We've been buying Sneaky Chef No-Nut Butter for the past several years. My wife is allergic to peanut butter and didn't care for the sunflower or soy butter substitutes. Sneaky Chef spreads well and holds up on toast. She likes the nutritional benefits received from the pea protein. Sneaky Chef also has a chocolate spread that she says is really good too. She's not tried cooking or baking with it, so am unsure if this works. After not having peanut butter for 30 years, she says it tastes like peanut butter (but I'm not sure about that!) As an aside, our dog loves it and takes medication smeared with it almost without swallowing. We feel good about giving it to her (and we don't give her the chocolate version ever) The only concern is in the summertime occasionally the oil separates from the spread and you just have to mix it back together. No biggee. She just keeps it in the fridge instead of in the cabinet when this happens.

Not as allergy safe as we hoped
My 15 month old is dairy, egg, treenut, sesame seed and probably coconut allergic. That being said, there isn't much variety we get to enjoy. He is NOT allergic to any fruits or vegetables and we have tried peas many times with no issues. I contacted Missy ok the website and she assured me there is none of his allergens were in the product. We ordered the product and it shipped through Prime, and the container was smashed on one side. We called Amazon and got another one, and this one was totally sealed but some how leaking oil and was all greasy. We tried the sealed package anyway, and it was really good, my 3 1/2 year old who is not allergic to anything tried it on toast and didn't even know it wasn't peanut butter. Gave it to Mr. Allergic Baby and within 15 minutes he had hives on his hands, and within 30 minutes mild case of hives all over his body. Unless "natural flavoring" is what he reacted to, there was something in it that bothered him. Whether through cross contamination or unknown or unlisted ingredients. We tried it a couple times just to be sure and he reacted each time. Great taste but disappointed in leaky and damaged packaging and not as allergy safe as they believe unfortunately.

Peanuts Are A Legume
Be careful if like me you are new to the world of Tree Nut & Peanut Allergies. I bought this thinking I would be able to make Fudge for some family members who are allergic. When I checked with their parent I was told : Oh No, you can't this contains Legumes (Golden Peas) - Peanuts are actually not a nut but a legume. Therefore just as dangerous in this case.I believe the Sneaky Chef Company is trying to provide alternatives to the allergy community and I commend them for their efforts. Although it couldn't be used in my intended purpose. I gave it Three stars because it does contain no nuts and is well labeled. We taste tested (with the non allergic out of the house as the smell could cause a response) It does look and have the texture ( of it's cousin) peanut butter. However, it doesn't really smell or taste like peanut butter. This makes me feel strongly that caution to make sure a person is not sensitive to the whole legume family is important before using this product.
