What makes science special is the very human agreement between its practitioners of putting evidence before faith, and facts before beliefs. A scientist might passionately pursue a question for ages and hypothesize an answer, but if confronted with a better solution will have to abandon his own in favor of the new one. It is this kind of brutal honesty that keeps science useful.But science is not only for the scientist, or the skeptics. It is for all of us! We all have a stake in understanding the world and having a chance to make the right choices and decisions in our everyday lives. We shouldn't be taking the word of a politician or a businessman on issues like global warming, pollution, deforestation and so many more, but be able to actually understand why we should take one side over the other.Science is not hard, in fact it is the only thing that is simple, because it doesn't bulls*** to you. Please, please, please read this book to get an understanding of the beauty and romance of science!

What a great book! Carl Sagan can write anything. Carl Sagan wasn't just an astronomer but a great author too. I would like to recommend you this masterpiece. The most nice thing was that I received this delivery 3 days before the estimated date.

Pages are somewhat old, but of good quality. The print quality is good.

The title says it perfectly and so this book contains brilliant reflections on the romance of science. A must read. One of Sagan's finest.

This review is not about the contents... The book is good read, but seems to be a cheap pirated copy. Poor paper quality and bad printing.

O livro é bem leve, o material é feito numas folhas bem levinhas e isso facilita muito segurar o livro, principalmente se for ler em pé no transporte público (meu caso kkkk'). A cor das páginas também é agradável aos olhos, num tom meio amarelado-queimado.Livro maravilhoso, foi meu primeiro livro em inglês (idioma original) do Carl Sagan, e confesso que é outro nível ler os pensamentos do Sagan no idioma original, se você é brasileiro, pretende comprar livros do Sagan e tem conhecimento de inglês pelo menos o suficiente pra ler bem, compre, compre sem medo, a experiência de imersão nos profundos pensamentos do autor são outro nível. O processo de tradução perde muito da semântica e dos maneirismos e singularidades da escrita e do pensamento original. A partir de agora todos os livros do Sagan vou comprar sempre no idioma original.

Una gran obra más de Carl Sagan. Es un excelente libro para aprender cómo argumentar falacias con un nivel argumenticio muy elevado. No puede faltar en su colección. La edición Kindle es muy buena, no tiene fallas.

If all Sagan's books would be made into courses and be taught in schools, this world would be so much better! We glimpse through a keyhole into the mysteries of life and universe, but we do it methodical, with precision, with rationality and with a scientific yet romantic soul!
