Anglepoise Type 1228 Desk Lamp, Ocean Blue [Energy Class A+]

I bought one of these around 5 to 6 years ago. It cost me around £120. At the time I would have said it was expensive but worth the money due to the superb quality of the engineering. It really was a thing of beauty.This one is almost 50% more expensive and the quality is nowhere near as good. The finish on the bars is rough, the switch is loose and not very positive. The base isn't as stable. All in all very disappointing. I won't be buying any more products from Anglepoise. It's such a shame the bean counters and cost cutters are gradually destroying these once great companies,

Bought this item for my son as a graduation gift. Love the iconic British history of this company and the lamps they produce. It is stylish and eye catching as you would expect. However, very disappointed by this lamp. It looks fantastic but, like someone mentioned in a previous comment and I ignored, it is built cheaply yet costs a fortune. The plastic shade is very unbecoming, the originals were made with a ceramic shade but thinking practically if it was ceramic and got broken it would be very upsetting and be expensive to replace. My main gripe is the fact that is does not feel its worth. The one we ordered unfortunately has a dented base cover. its an aluminium cover to the weighty base, it was dented and scratched in the box because the base had shifted inside. It was packed very well but at some point the box had sustained an impact on one corner shifting the base across the other components. This just made me realise how delicate the cover is. On the whole as with a lot of designer products they look fantastic but quality is not their priority.
