An ideal help for beginning students No need to painstakingly place tapes on the fingerboard. The easy-to-use Don't Fret goes on in one piece and uses colored lines to show the basic finger positions, and white lines to show the chromatic tones. Please make sure that you clean off the instrument's fingerboard prior to use. If not, the glue may leave a residue on the fingerboard when the tape is removed.

Works well, but doesn't look nice
This is 3rd sticker of the type I bought. First one was first fret (fewer lines) for 1/2 size violin. My daughter decided to take it off a couple days before her first recital to find out she needs it back. Local store didn't have first fret, but they had don't fret for 1/2 size. I bought that, but it was too long (more than 1st position marked) with additional white lines between the colored lines (so additional places to put your finger: first fret for example on E sting has marked F sharp, then G sharp, A natural, B natural) Don't fret has white lines on F natural, G natural, A sharp etc etc... It's more confusing, so when I ended up blacking out the additional lines and cutting don't fret. IMHO First Fret is much better for beginner. However, right after the recital we switched to larger violin (3/4 size) and decided on buying Don't Fret sticker thinking about future and checking if it would be useful to have more than 1st position. I still used sharpie to blacken the white lines between the colored lines. It's just too many lines to be helpful. It's really unnecessary imho if you know you need to put your finger between 2 colored lines for C instead of red one for C sharp. This Don't fret sticker would have worked well if it wasn't for the ugly look. Previous 2 stickers made the fingerboard look perfect: all nice and black except for those really thin colored lines. The lines are better than using tape since are not raised. The fingerboard still feels smooth and flat, so when you close your eyes you don't even know you have lines there. Helps you learn to play without having to feel them, just like you supposed to play later. However, this 3/4 size sticker looks like it is not glued well. The fingerboard in that area is all grey as if it's a bad quality sticker. I don't know why... I'm going to remove it and replace it with a different one (back to first fret). It's simpler, no need to mark anything, and it looks better.

Great help
This “Don’t Fret” is awesome! It helped my son learn where to put his fingers on the violin. He gained confidence so much faster after we added this. It was also very easy to place correctly on the violin.

Great product for violin.
Don’t leave home without it. Don’t fret is a requirement for all of my beginner violinist students.

A must have
This sticker has been on all of my son's violins and has greatly helped him with playing. The various colors indicate where you place your fingers for playing of notes and it's very accurate. His teacher liked it so much, she recommends it to her other students. It's much better than the strip of tape which was initially put on his first violin. That left a sticky residue and shifted. Don't waste time with tape, buy Don't Fret and you won't!
