The Culture of Control: Crime and Social Order in Contemporary Society

Excellent
This book is quite dense and dry, so don't get it if you're looking for a fluffy Malcolm Gladwell-type read. It is also extremely good. I've never read another book that more thoroughly explained how the last fifty years have shaped how British and American criminal policy are formed. How and why we went from effective, evidence-based rehabilitative practices to the populist "tough on crime" policies that lead to increased crime rates.

The most comprehensive look at the history of what really happened to our criminal justice system. It was politicized!
An extremely informative history of what REALLY happened to our criminal justice system. Take the course with this book at Regis University from Professor Matthew Johnson because he is the BEST teacher on the subject. Thanks! Janice Marie Alexander

A critical criminology classic
A critical analysis of 21st century social change in criminal justice and social control. Borrows heavily from the works of Michel Foucault, examining themes like penology, crime control, and rehabilitation. A detailed and well-researched book.

Great price!
This is the first time I ordered books from Amazon. I am impressed. All the pages are counted for and there is minimal highlighting and pen or pencil marks. There was also minimal notes.
