Very good quality print
Print is dark and clear which makes reading pleasurable. However the map shown in the book is a complete joke, as the name of states/cities are not readable at all. They all look like tiny black ants! But it is just one page. The overall quality of the print is commendable. Do you know what is a "monarchy", what is "apartheid" what is a "call center", and what is the Cauvery river water dispute between Karnataka and Tamilnadu all about? if you don't know these, this book will teach you in most basic and easily understandable form. It is a staple bound book. Two staples hold the pages in the spine (middle) of the book, not at the side of the book. I am class 8-passed school dropped out and i am using NCERT textbooks like this one to do self studies. These kind of textbooks are not available in local bookshop and i was not able to buy from NCERT website.. Thanks Amazon in selling such books.

A perfect book for those who prefer concepts over rote learning.
Although it was meant for children of sixth standard, I bought it to know the basics of Indian polity. I think the book delivered on my expectation splendidly. The book has been written in lucid language with a lot of examples and a precise balance of concept and facts which creates a very pleasant reading of otherwise extremely boring subject of polity. I would recommend this book to everyone. If you are preparing for UPSC then I think the questions at the end of each chapter would prove very useful. This book is available for free as a pdf on NCERT website. I have a bad habit of writing in the book itself therefore I always insist on hard copy over soft ones.
