It actually works
Even though I read several very positive reviews for this product, I placed my order still thinking it could be a gimmick. It arrived the day before we left on an 8 day RV trip. I bought 4 bananas. On day 2 of the trip the bananas were the ripeness I like so they went into the bag and into the refrigerator. On day 3 the bagged bananas were still yellow, but on subsequent days the skin turned brown as expected from reading other reviews. The flesh was still firm and used as cereal topping. One banana made it home and I used it in a smoothie 8 days after it was bagged. The skin was brown. The flesh was a little softer than I'd want to eat by itself, but still in good condition. Bye bye banana bread or worse yet...composted bananas.

Sturdy bag
My friend had been searching stores for awhile for a "yellow banana bag". Frustrated, she asked me if I had see one anywhere. I've seen them online before but never thought of using one. Decided on this "RSVP Yellow Banana Bag" as it's YELLOW, insulated and reviews were good. It arrived about a week after ordering (Hawaii ;)). The nylon, insulated bag seems small - not for a big bunch of bananas. Perhaps 6 large Central American bananas, depending on the curve or shape of the bananas. Should be good enough for a couple, but for a large family of slow banana eaters, think they would need 2 bags. The bag seems well made with an adjustable nylon drawstring. I'm sure my friend will be satisfied with this product.

Banana Bag
I followed the instruction for this product. Put my 'just getting ripe' bananas in the bag & tightly closed it & put it in the fridge. After a couple of days the bananas did turn dark but were ok. But by the end of the week, not only were they black, they were over ripe! So I just used them for banana bread. But the bag sucked at keeping them fresh!

Saved us $$$$$
I was skeptical to say the least, but thought I'd give it a try. I was sick of using left over bananas for smoothies as they are basically inedible in a few days. Well, this bag makes the bananas last about a week and a half. As long as you don't mind brown skin, the insides are just as fresh as when they are at their perfect ripeness. One of the best purchases we've made.

Bulky
Did not care for this product at all. Took up a lot of space and really did not work. I do not recommend.

It works for me.
They actually work. The bananas don't last forever but they last longer and even when they get some brown (ripening), they still stay firm and retain that slightly green taste (which is the only way I eat them). I don't like cold bananas though so I try to remember to pull one out in the morning to have later that day.

Nothing magic, but useful in or out of the fridge, and not just for bananas. Here's what I do.Bananas: I ripen them on a banana hanger. That protects them from bruising and lets them ripen evenly and not too fast. When they're ripe, I put as many as I can not eat in two days in the bag in the fridge. They do turn gray, but they keep for a week, they don't bruise and don't get mushy.Avocados: out of the fridge, fruit ripens in a day or two in the bag. It's not big enough for melons but perfect for avocados and probably similar small fruit.Well designed, well made, why didn't I think of it?
