Fossil Emi Saddle Bag

I really like this purse. I love the pattern on the part that closes. I love the color. I've always loved Fossil. The ONLY downside in my book is that in the pictures it truly does look bigger than it really is. This cannot be an everyday purse *for me* only because I carry makeup, keys, sunglasses, wallet, headphones and other small stuff so yeah. BUT. It's awesome for going out or running somewhere w/ less stuff. Would recommend if that's your way of doing things! :) love it though anyway

Absolutely GORGEOUS bag with a style that will never go out of date. However, the leather is absurdly delicate -- even the lightest touch of a fingernail will remove the color from the leather. I have several Fossil handbags and they have all worn beautifully, gaining that lived-in patina that all quality leather has after years of use. This bag, however, has been carried less than a day and looks like it has been pelted by angry children with rocks or worked over by someone who takes out their aggression with a pencil eraser. I personally don't want to be hyper-vigilant about opening my purse lest the color rub off the leather (which is exactly what happened -- see pictures).Bottom line: If you want to buy this purse and have it retain its color, don't carry it. If you do carry it, expect it will look ratty in a very short time.

There's been a lot written on this bag, and it's pretty clear with the problems with the leather that it should not have ever been sold in its current condition - especially for the price.However, what I've not seen from anyone is that there's a bit of a workaround: a good leather conditioner, like Allen Edmonds, will provide significant protection for it without discoloration.Now should you have to use this to use the purse? Nope, but it is what it is. 2 stars.

The first thing to keep in mind with this bag is that it is small so make sure you look at the dimensions and photos before you buy. If you are ok with the smallish size then this is a very nicely crafted bag that should hold up for years. The intricate leather work (I have the wine color with the leather carvings on the top flap) and the leather tassel are nicely detailed. The leather seems of high quality and should hold up to moderate use. The inside pocket has a small pouch for your cell phone and also a zippered pouch for your credit cards or cash. If you like the design of this bag you will not be disappointed.*** Positive Points: ***- Good quality leather that looks rich and expensive- Intricate design on the top flap is nicely crafted- Understated branding that only true purse aficionados will appreciate*** Negative Points: ***- Smallish size with limited storage- Relatively high price compared to other Fossil Bags- Does not come with a protective cover like other high end purses do++++ Update After 1 Week of Use ++++The design of the bag draws a lot of compliments but with just minor use the front finish starting getting some very noticeable scratches and blemishes. It seems like the act of just opening and closing the bag and having your nails barely scrape the surface is enough to scratch the lather. It is not a nice wear look but actually detracts from the overall look. Considering how fragile the leather finish is I am dropping my rating to 3 stars (from 4). I will be trying the black version of this bag as well so hopefully that will be more durable than this wine colored version

I'm not a female although given the offers I get from the Vine, they seem not to understand that at least in part. This will make a nice gift for my sister, and I doubt she'll complain about what one of the early reviewers said. While it is true, that scratching this lightly with the nail tends to leave light marks on the leather, I'm not sure that's all that unusual. Probably the reason why white or black leather's are more popular than a brown or dark tan. In the early 1970's I had a pair of Frye boots, they were almost identical in color to this, and there were a few scuffs on them before I treated them. Once they type of leather is determined, I'd say this is probably a version of top grain leather, you can look up what the needed treatment for it is. Frankly though, if you wanted a knock around bag something softer, and darker would be more in order for everyday. This is an elegant bag that is more for special dress-up events or a chic business meetings. Given most of the women I know have about 10 bags, and at least twice that many pairs of shoes or more, I doubt it will be much of a problem to designate this for special occasions.The bag itself is nicely designed with a magnetic catch, that also has some little spring nodules, to prevent it from popping open too easily. The strap seems to be a nice length and adjusts the way a waist belt does. One downside if you like things flexible, while it's possible to hid the strap inside the bag, it does not actually detach. There is also a brass or bronze key, that seems to be purely for decoration as there is no lock on the bag.This is called a saddle bag, and I would assume it's for a light evening or a spare for necessary items. If you check your coat and purse at the door this might keep make-up, opera glasses, some cash, or other small items that you need. The size is not really intended for a typical purse collection of all the things you might typically carry.Recommended for the woman who goes out on the town occasionally, or is a professional woman such as a Lawyer, business executive, or administrator. It's a nice color and very well stitched and put together overall. However, it's not something you want to have for everyday use.

Beautiful soft leather! The strap is really cool with metal rivets along the length. Not a large pirse, but lots of room for everyday use. Love it!

I have several Fossil bags, but this one is by far the nicest. Great workmanship, perfect size, a classic bag that will last me for years.
