Ok for Elmer lovers, but there are better counting books
My two-year-old son adores Elmer, the patchwork elephant, so as we work with him on counting, I decided to get this book. This is part of a subseries of the Elmer books that focuses on simple topics for younger children (numbers, colors, weather, etc). While I think some of the other books are good, I wouldn't recommend this one. There is neither a story nor clever language to engage, just the numbers and images. I bought How Do Dinosaurs Count to 10 at the same time, and think that is a far better books. There's better artwork and the language rhymes, while continuing to focus on numbers. While normally an Elmer fanatic, even our son isn't too interested in this book.

perfect for a child who likes Elmer
Our 18 month old loves Elmer and is learning how to count. I wish Elmer was in more of the pages, but all in all cute book and beautifully illustrated.

Cute book!
This is a very basic counting (1 to 10) book and Elmer and his friends are featured. It would be fun to sit down with a little child and count the animals. As always, David McKee's Elmer book is delightful!
