Absolute favorite in silk painting categories . I’v got 8 different books in silk painting, this one is the best. For very beginners to more advanced silk painters this book is a treasure.Clearly explains everything with detailed pictures from the first steps ( how to put up a frame , steam fixing,...) till more advanced techniques .It’s a book that you can always use for some fresh ideas. Very nice inspiring pictures.

Good reference for beginners

This book is trully inspiring, the author suggests reading all the way through the book first before starting a silk painting esp if you are a novice, which i found to be good advice and was not difficult as it was excellent, she gives detailed descriptions on various techniques that will give you confidence and encourages you to experiment and adapt them to your own practice, with a number of examples by talented silk painters.I will be starting my own first silk painting after reading this shortly, and with all I know now I am sure I will have alot of fun doing so.

Bought for my sister as a gift, She loves it

As this book was first published in 1999 some of the technical information refers to dyes which are not water based which most are now. However, the explanations of the various techniques, and the colourwheel for the novice are clearly set out, and easy to follow. The illustrations are very colourful and inspirational. A good buy for both beginner and those with some experience.

I am a beginner, and needed to learn all the different techniques silk painting as to offer.This book is very good in telling you how to go through alot of different methods to achieve different styles. Lets you go through each style individually and lets you know all the little secrets to achieve the best results.

Great book but somewhat dated when it comes to information on new products.

An excellent book! I have a number of silk painting and surface design books and this is by far the best I've seen. Lots of interesting history of the art as well as very detailed discussion of the materials and techniques used. Lots of photos to illustrate the material and the overall work in the photos shown is absolutely gorgeous. She provides the most comprehensive and valuable information I've found anywhere. Wish I had purchased this book four years ago.It's taken me from part-time dabbler to serious student of the art, with a far greater understanding now of the levels of development within a piece.

Excellent book. Lots of step by step, informational, good pics, and even shares history of silk and great buying tips, along with what pitfalls to be aware of when buying silk. Super helpful!
