can the left side ratchet (DM 5432) be used on the right side and vis a versa?

I don’t see why not. All it does is to pull in the web. And licks it down..

How is the Demco 5433 winch attached to the tow dolly? More specifically 2 a Master toe, tow dolly

There is a channel welded to the front of the wheel plates. these slide into it and have a bolt protruding from the dolly to keep it from sliding out.

i have old type ratchet tie downs that are mounted on a slide bar on front

This type slides in chanals on the front of each wheel platform

This winch works very well as a replacement. The stamped steel plate edges are sharp enough to shave off surface skin. So watch out for your knuckles. I will dismount my winch this coming spring to file or grind the edges than I'll reinstall it.
