A Simple and Reliable 5G Backup Solution for Small Businesses
We recently upgraded to a D-Link DBR-600-P PoE router, which is a nice all-in-one device that allows us to connect and power access points and cameras for our office. Didn't realise at the time that it also works with D-Link's 5G USB dongle to provide load-balancing and failover to the fixed line internet we have. One of the biggest advantages is how easy the setup is. Simply plug the D501 into the DBR-600-P's USB port (need a separate USB-A to USB-C cable though), insert a SIM card, and the router automatically recognises it. Within minutes, we had a fully functional 5G connection ready to use. For small and medium-sized offices, this setup offers real peace of mind. The DBR-600-P can intelligently distribute traffic between the fixed-line connection and the D501's 5G connection, helping optimise bandwidth during busy periods. More importantly, if the primary broadband line goes down, the router automatically fails over to 5G, keeping the business online. Performance has been impressive, with fast and stable 5G connectivity and the dongle itself is compact, unobtrusive and doesn't require any additional power supply, making deployment incredibly straightforward. For organisations that rely on uninterrupted internet access but don't want the cost and complexity of a second fixed-line, the D-Link D501 paired with the DBR-600-P is a smart, cost-effective solution. Reliable, easy to deploy, and highly effective when it matters most.

Works well with quick speeds on my travel router!
Purchased the D501 to use with my GL.iNet Slate 7 travel router, as my existing 4G dongle was very slow (averaging only 30-40Mbps download). Setting up and using the D501 earlier today, I'm now able to reach my provider's 5G speed cap of 250Mbps. It works flawlessly, with just a minor exception. Initially, I was unable to get it to work until I disabled my VPN connection. It seems on the initial setup, if VPN is configured on the travel router, it won't connect. However, subsequent reboots with VPN remaining connected - had no issues.

Compatible Apple Mac
