4L60E Transmission Cooler Replacement
I replaced the OEM transmission cooler with this unit on my '99 Sierra 1500 (GMT800). Many people choose to go with a Tru-Cool 40k unit, but since I rarely tow, I went with the Tru-Cool 28k. The 28k (24,000 BTU) is easily twice the size of the OEM tranny cooler, and consistently keeps transmission temps ~20* lower than before. I am using Torque Pro to monitor temperatures.Transmission Fluid Temp Test (60* ambient):OEM Cooler: 150*Tru-Cool 28k: 130*If you have a factory GM transmission cooler, the fluid path goes from Transmission > Radiator > Trans Cooler > Transmission. Some people elect to bypass the radiator for more cooling, but I did not. Transmission fluid is heated as it passes through the radiator, essentially removing the need for an external thermal bypass. We have a few brisk days of cold weather here in Colorado, and I didn't want to have to worry about over-cooling the transmission fluid. I wanted something that would keep the transmission cool, but not too cool. This is another reason I didn't chose the 40k cooler. If I lived in an area that rarely saw freezing weather -OR- if I had a vehicle that is known to internally fail, thus causing transmission fluid and coolant to mix... I would bypass the radiator.Install was very easy on my Sierra. The original transmission cooler lines are 3/8", and I had no issue with the 11/32" on this cooler (that's a whopping 1/32" difference - don't stress over it). The kit comes with everything you need; however, I wasn't aware of all the fittings in the kit before ordering, so I used the Hayden 397 fitting (I honestly may not have needed this fitting, but wanted to be sure I had no snags during installation). The included transmission hose was also of sufficient length. As minor as it may be, I also much preferred the black color of the 28k over the 40k.

Must have for towing.
I used this on a 2016 toyota sequoia that had no trans fluid to air heat exchanger. If you have a sequoia or tundra then you'll know what i mean when i say trans fluid thermostat. My sequoia didn't have that either. I found a used one on ebay. I installed both items and changed the trans fluid via the new cooler line. After exchanging 12 quarts of amsoil i went through the ridiculous check procedure required for these transmissions. I installed a scan gauge II to get accurate real time trans temps. My first trip was towing my 25ft golf steam. On interstate 81 in Virginia around mile marker 194 headed north is a long climb. This is where i saw my highest trans temps. I pulled that hill running 65mph or so. I watched the scan gauge. The temp steadily crept up until it hit 212 degrees. At that point the temp dropped quickly to 204. I'm guessing at 212 the thermostat for the trans fluid opens. If that's the cases then the cooler worked very efficiently. The rest of the trip the trans temps stayed with a few degrees of the coolant temp, 195 or so. On my next towing trip im going to pin the thermostat open all the time to see how the temps change. I hope this helps someone. Installation wasn't terrible. There is lots of room in front of the ac condenser on the right side behind the grill. Im not using an auxiliary fan either. The factory mechanical fan seems to pull plenty of air through the cooler. Good luck

Best cooler out there for a great price.
This is a very stout piece. The trans shop wanted $150 just for the cooler. This is the best trans cooler on the market without an E.Fan set-up. Works great. Would buy again.

Super Cool. Glad I bought this. Plates are way better than tubes
Purchased this for my 2002 Honda Odysses. We have been plagued with over heating of the Transmission 3 times over the past year. We couldn't drive down the interstate or take long road trips even on the back roads because the transmission would get hot and stop working. Was told I needed a new transmission by a Honda Dealer ship. I didn't go that route because the transmission still shifted well and didn't get stuck in a particular gear. Had this installed 3 weeks ago and I am happy to report that I drove from Tallahassee, Fl to Jacksonville, FL and it was 101 degrees outside. In Jacksonville we experienced stop and go traffic and the transmission temperature was in its operating range. When in Jacksonville we had a van full of people. We no longer have problems with our transmission over heating even on super hot days and in stop and go traffic. In my title I said plates are way better than tubes. This cooler comes with 42 plates the fluid runs through. It is far more efficient than the traditional tubes.

Solid product
Probably didn't need one this large but it doesn't hurt. Barely fits 2013 Tacoma but does with minor trimming.
