I was one of those people that would use a gas powered line trimmer and I absolutely hated it which meant I would trim like 2 times per year to reduce the amount of swearing and kicking that I did. When I was shopping for a new trimmer, I knew that I would never want to hand load the line and never have to try and clean the carburator ever again.... Well this EGO trimmer is absolutely fantastic in solving those 2 issues and so much more. The auto load on this is amazing, it starts up the minute I pull the trigger and the variable speed on the unit has my line lasting so much longer. Its relatively light weight and well balanced so its easy to move and adjust. The adjustment hand holder is good for being able to go from trimming to edging while keeping the tool comfortable to use. The battery life is every bit as much as 45 minutes, so if I want to go full out I don't even mind edging the driveway and sidewalks every other week or so. Just a much more enjoyable experience and I'm really glad I made the switch. I really like the product line that EGO puts out (good construction quality) and I'm considering going to one of their leaf blowers next to complement this guy.

Best trimmer ever! Battery keeps its charge, string is strong but the best is that it automatically loads the string into the trimmer! No more manually restringing. A great and necessary tool for the yard.

I've had an old Craftsman 20V trimmer for years, which starts out weak on a fresh battery and then slowly becomes more and more useless for the next 20 minutes until the battery thankfully goes dead. After paying my dues with that thing, it was finally time to get something good. I wasn't familiar with this brand, and was leaning towards one of the known quality names like Dewalt, but after reading multiple reviews that placed this at the top of the pack, I made the jump. Holy cow, this thing is powerful! It has a switch that controls max speed, and I keep it on the low setting, and even then I usually don't have the trigger all the way depressed unless I'm cutting brush and thick stalks. Adding new string is just as easy as advertised. My curb has been a mess for decades, completely overgrown with grass and several inches of well rooted dirt. The old trimmer couldn't do much about it (I wish I'd taken a picture of it before). This trimmer cleared out all the grass AND dirt to create a nice professional edge in one relatively quick session, even allowing me to sink a small groove like the pros do! The battery charger is excellent, with a fan that comes on to manage the temperature. The batteries themselves have a level check indicator with a push of a button, allowing me to easily manage them. The 56V system has crazy power at full tilt that lasts about 25 minutes or so with the 2.0Ah battery if you're tackling 2 ft of growth, but now that I've knocked down the big stuff and caught my yard up, the battery lasts over an hour at a time because I can use it at low setting for ordinary edging and clean-up. This thing is a monster, especially if you buy the optional 4.0Ah battery, it ain't light. But the trade-off for the power to do anything and everything is well worth it. I should have gotten this a long time ago.

awesome ,great build on the ego trimmer, feels tough sturdy and rust proof. My only complaint is the screw driver was missing ,the tool to tighten everything was not in the box, I had an Allen wrench and screwdriver so no worries but it was missing. Other than that it's an awesome trimmer a lot of power and speed. I love the line load button its really easy to do so when you are hot and tired and run out of string it does not tax you so badly.

Yes that sounds dramatic, but it's not an overstatement. This trimmer was such a massive upgrade for me and it has substantially improved my lawn maintenance routine. My previous trimmer was a cheap corded big box store brand and was long past its useful life when I decided to upgrade. I chose the EGO cordless based the outstanding reviews and now I know why it has such high ratings. This was an investment purchase for me (paid off in installments), so I did a ton of research before taking the leap. There was a lot of consensus among YouTubers and bloggers that this was a great product, but I was still a little reticent to drop this amount of cash on an optional piece of lawn equipment. But this baby has proved itself worthy of the price and the reviews! It was very easy to assemble, although I did have to watch a video to see if I was installing the handle correctly. Speaking of the handle, it's very sturdy but also very comfortable and my hand doesn't get tired of holding it. My favorite feature of this trimmer is the automatic string loader. It took me a little fiddling to figure out how to feed my line into the loading holes, but once I did, the magic began! The feeder is a little noisy and you have to keep an eye on it, because it will swallow up the whole string if you don't stop it in time. Don't worry if this happens to you though because it's easy to open up the string chamber and start over. The battery life on this baby is excellent! I've never run out of battery while trimming my lawn. I've used it for an extensive cleanup in my back yard to take down a large amount of brush, and it still didn't get close to running out of charge. The battery docking station was easy to mount to the wall, and the battery is fairly easy to get on and off the trimmer (although it takes a little push to get it on). I saw some reviewers say that the weight of this machine made their arms tired (primarily because of the big battery), but I find the weight to be an advantage. It makes the trimmer feel more sturdy and allows me to make smoother lines when I'm edging. This trimmer has made me a master at edging by the way. I get compliments on my lawn from fully grown dudes all the time (I'm a lil gal), and I can see their envy when I whip this bad boy out. My yard has the cleanest lines in the neighborhood, and I'm very proud of my progress at making crisp edges along my driveway and sidewalk. Overall, I cannot recommend this trimmer highly enough. My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner!

I have had a lawn service for most of my adult homeownership. At 75 I decided to take the lawn care over myself. Having battery operated tools and control over when and what was being done were my primary decision for this move. I started with the lawnmower (battery operated and self propelled). It was liberating! Great exercise, no gasoline or oil to deal with. I added this string trimmer/ edger a couple of weeks ago. I had always hated trimming and edging. It is no longer a concern. It is fairly lightweight. The battery way outlasted my use. The handle is easy to adjust from trimming to edging. My edging/trimming gets better each time I’ve used it. The huge benefit is the string feeder. OMG! Piece of cake. I have already recaptured my lawn care costs by doing it myself with these two tools. The instructions are easy to follow plus there are plenty of videos from happy purchasers on YouTube. If I needed another tool, I would definitely see what EGO had available. The battery is compatible with most of them. Highly recommend.

Have had this trimmer less than 2 years, and has had very light use. Never did a great job loading string but worked,recently started having problems loading string and it would break off and not spool out.Called customer service and talked to a surely rep. and was informed that even though company advertises 5 yr warranty that the trimmer head is only warranted for 90 days and I would need to purchase it from Amazon as they would not sell me one directly. So don't purchase unless you want to spend $50 every year or two for a new trimmer head and don't mind rude service reps.

I purchased this trimmer as my bauer 20v weed trimmer was no longer extending the trim line. This unit is much more powerful than the Bauer unit. I've only used electric and battery string trimmers. This unit is more powerful than any I have previously used. It took me a couple minutes to get used to the power and angle after butchering some grass. It worked well as an edger too. It came with 14 feet of string, but was also pre-loaded with string so I did not get the chance to use the Powerload feature. At first, since it came with string in the trimmer head, I thought It may be a used product as unboxing videos I watched noted you have to load the string into the trimmer. But, after a close inspection I couldn't find any signs of prior use.

Powerfull and not so heavy. There is 2-speed option. Battery last easily more than 30 min and charge in 50 min which is great!

It’s a little heavy for a 115lb lady. First time using a product like this - takes getting used to, does a great job.

After using this trimmer for ten minutes, I noticed how evenly weighted it was. Assembly was easy. Weeds and light vegetation are no match for this garden tool! I am pleased with this purchased.
