Heavenly Melter
The Wilton Chocolate Melter is awesome. Lets face it, chocolate work requires a consistent heater and a delicate, careful hand. This melter is perfect. I melt an entire bag of chocolate chips quickly on the melt mode and then turn it down to warm for the remainder of the time it takes me to use the chocolate. The Wilton 'dispensing' funnel is a MUST for use with this Wilton melter. Life is so easy with both of them. My 9 year old and I just made chocolate covered strawberries, cashews and peanuts in the last hour. Fun, tasty and quality father/daughter time creating awesome confections. I am perfecting my own caramel and when I do, Turtles will be so easy and make my wife so happy. At 12 bucks a pound in the store....I can make 4 pounds of turtles for 12 bucks total and they are awesome using Kraft's caramels melted. The Wilton Melter has a nonstick pot that is a perfect size and perfect depth and perfect diameter. We dip butter cookies, strawberries, bananas, etc right in the pot because the pot's dimensions allow for easy dippin'! I paid 26.00 for the Wilton melter and 10 bucks for the Wilton 'dispensing' funnel. If you are new to chocolate but want to play, I suggest buying a few bags of Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate, 11.5 ounces bags of chips and a few Nestle Semi-Sweet chips and mix them equally, a half a bag of each at a 1 to 1 ratio. That will give you quality choclate. Next, too much heat ruins chocolate. This Wilton melter/warmer takes a lot of the 'worry'out of the potentials since it doesn't heat uncontrollably. I keep a thermometer tip suspended in the middle of my melting chocolate. I do not let the chocolate get hotter than 110 degrees but I try to keep it at 100 degrees. Stirring in unmelted chips to the melted chips helps control the temperature. Adding more chips helps reduce the temperature just enough. Removing the pot and using the choclate in "pour mode", for whatever creation I'm doing, ends the heat issue the best. The last important thing for chocolate work is that you NEVER let water get near your melted chocolate or your chocolate will 'seize'. That is another word for chocolate covered garbage in your kitchen garbage can! Water in melted, heated chocolate is critical to avoid. A double boiler uses water to heat chocolate on the stove. I love the Wilton Melter because it uses electricity at my kitchen table and any water is far away by the sink nowhere near my chocolate. I like to sit at a table and play. I have to work at my stove enough as it is. Some reviews criticize the handle and quality of this Wilton melter. Don't let that stop you from spending a few bucks for this convenience. Unless you are a Gladiator Chocolatier going into vicious chocolate battle with a strawberry or something to else to dip, you will be fine and very happy this little, inexpensive tool is on your side making your chocolate creations. Have fun.

Not for chocolatiers - but for the rest of us
I confess - - - I am not a chocolate snob. I like Hershey's candy bars, and Nestle chocolate chips (and many other brands as well) and I bake with what is handy, and affordable. I do not use $20 a pound chocolate to make homemade peanut butter cups, or turtles, or chocolate covered bananas and strawberries. This melter is not intended for chocolatiers, but instead for those of us who occasionally melt chocolate chips or the "inferior" candy coating, or occasionally a Hershey's candy bar to coat whatever we want to dip in chocolate. It won't temper chocolate because it wasn't designed to temper chocolate, and any "serious" chocolatier wouldn't expect it to. Those machines cost 5-10 times as much as this appliance. That said, I think this melting pot is a Godsend. I don't want to stand over a double boiler and hope I don't get a drop of water in my chocolate, which will cause it to seize. And the microwave oven is iffy, too. This great little pot reliably melts every product I put in it, and when it's melted, I turn the temperature to 'warm' and it keeps it ready for me to use until I'm through with my tinkering.Because I think it's so great, I gave it to my daughter and daughter-in-law and they love it as well. And I'm about to order one for a co-worker as a Christmas present. This little pot is easy to clean, works reliably and melts chocolate wonderfully. Serious chocolatiers look elsewhere; everyone else - you'll be very pleased with this baby.

For the price you can't beat it
This product performs basic chocolate melting functions. You must watch it closely in order not to scorch the chocolate as the heat is very high. The plastic handle broke off very quickly without rough handling (just from holding while stirring chocolate - it is quite flimsy). But I still use it occasionally. It can be more convenient than a microwave because you can plug it in right next to you, and just quickly turn it on again when the chocolate is starting to set, rather than running back to the microwave. Because the temperature even of the "warming" setting is so high, only a couple seconds will do it or you chocolate will fall out of temper.

Have chocolate dipped whatever, whenever!
I bought this as a gift for both my wife and I for Valentine's day. I have made countless chocolate treats for her and the family. For the price of a box of professionally dipped strawberries, I have enjoyed dipping my own fresh strawberries, oreo-balls, pretzels and marshmallows. It's a real hit for any occasion. I even took it to a beach house vacation for making many chocolate treats.Handle is for pouring NOT for handling during cleanup. Temperature is perfect for real chocolate. Not so much for white or colored decorator's "chocolate". It is not quite as melted or smooth but is useable. The size is good for managable batches. The two temperature settings is simple to use without fear of burning the chocolate. You won't regret having this once you use it!

Perfect
I took a chance and ordered the Pro Electric Melting Pot, I was looking for a small pot to melt wax and I was able to bring the heat of the wax up to 180 degrees with a cover on it while it's melting...not only did it melt fast, it was very easy to clean, just had to wipe with a paper towel, I'm really pleased with this product...no more double boiler on the stove for me...I know many were wondering if this little machine could be use to melt wax, it won't work without a cover but I put a small plate on top and it worked great for me...very happy and because melted wax is not heavy, the handle seems to hold good.

My 11-year old loves it.
Gave this to my 11-year old to make her own chocolates. She had learned from her Grandmother but melting the chocolate in a double boiler was messy and fussy. This made is it so easy for her. It melts the chocolate rapidly...keeps at a good melt and makes it easy to pour into the molds. The large handle keeps her little hands away from the pot so nice and safe. Clean up was easy also.

American Plug
I bought this melting pot becaue of the other good reviews. It turned up fairly quickly and looks in working order. However, I can't tell you if it's any good or not yet as I haven't been able to use it because it comes with an American plug! I will have to get a converter. The description of item does use the U.S measurement term 'cup' and other reviews are form Amazon.com, but there are thousands of products sold globally that are pre-adapted for the country's electrical input. It should be stated that a converter will be needed (or supply one with it) as it is on sale through Amazon.co.uk, with a GBP price, and no mention of the U.S electrical connection.

Must have!!
This is a lifesaver! Melting chocolate in this has changed my life, I used to burn the chocolate in the microwave or in a double boiler all the time but this works extremely well. It keeps the chocolate warm and never burns it.
