If you don't have a therapy license you can get sued for teaching this!
I think that's a bunk law! If there's freedom found in a book you shouldn't have to be a therapist to teach it! I definitely recommend buying the student book if you are offended! Have PTSD or constantly ruminate in your head! Through this book you can get out of the trend of being continually offended! It is not God's freedom it's worldly freedom. But it opens you up enough to buy God's gold! Revelations 3:18

Exactly what I needed
It's packed with practical skills for managing overwhelming emotions, improving relationships, and staying grounded. The explanations are clear, the exercises are helpful, and the handouts reinforce the skills. This book has honestly given me my life back. Highly recommend!

Never a Better Price!
I am currently in DBT. I've gotten tired of trying to shuffle through all the papers I'm sent for classes. I purchased this book to be able to read all the parts that my group leader believes isn't worth copying n giving to us, the class members. There is SO much insight in this book! The DBT program is laid out simply, easily so that it may be understood by all who read the book. I love my book n guard it fiercely from any harm.Usually this book sells for $80 n up. I'm grateful to have gotten it for under $60!

I would strongly recommend familiarizing yourself with the "student" version of this book ...
I recently purchased this DBT Skills Training Manual to supplement my use of the companion manual that has the handouts and worksheets. I have been in a DBT therapy program for a year and am very familiar with the skills already. I need to have further explanation of the principles in order to assimilate these skills into my daily life. They need to be automatic. That being said, I do not find this teaching manual to be overwhelming as some others have reported. I target the sections that offer expanded explanations of key points in the modules and skip the material covering how to teach the skills for a group.I would strongly recommend familiarizing yourself with the "student" version of this book or having some background in the skills before launching into the training manual. In other words don't buy the two books together.

Not finding myself using the book but always using the skills.
As of writing this review, I am not using the manual all that much as it has expanded to quite a larger and broader audience. The contents of Libehan's second edition of DBT is extensive and covers a lot of ground. My only concern is that I do not use a whole lot of it. As I have been in group and study Zen quite a bit on my own, it doesn't have that real focus on emotional disturbances of BPD. Instead it is less radical and more accessible.I still think it's a great resource for those who wants concrete and broader options in using the skills. But again life skills are personal, I guess I have personalized them too much while I was in group using the first edition.

Invaluable resource
This newer edition of Marsha Lineman's groundbreaking work in DBT is fantastic. It fills in many gaps from the first publication (20 years ago) and is a thorough walk through and explanation of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I purchased this in order to continue the work I began in intensive therapy a couple years ago and I find it to be a very helpful resource. I also purchased the accompanying "Handouts and Worksheets" and use it as well. I would imagine, however, if you were not a trained therapist and just wanting to know more about DBT, this book might be overwhelming. Having walked through intensive DBT and worked with a coach for a couple years, though, I have found this book to be invaluable to my continued recovery.
