.com The DewStop FS-100 Condensation Sentry Fan Switch is ideal for preventing the growth of mold and mildew created by condensation from baths and showers. The switch features a clever sensor that constantly monitors temperature, humidity, and dew point and automatically turns on your fan when the air becomes too heavy. Once a room's condensation level is brought down, the sensor will trigger the fan to turn off. You can rely on the sensor to work automatically, or you can manually control your fan with the button located on the switch. For those times when you choose to turn the fan on yourself, a 30-minute fan timer will automatically turn it off to help you save money and electricity.Save on Energy and Maintenance Costs Using an exhaust fan to rid a bathroom of humidity can be a tricky balancing act. Turn it off too soon, and you may leave behind damaging moisture. Leave it on too long, and you waste energy by sending heated or cooled air outside unnecessarily. Because the DewStop only comes on when needed and stops after 30 minutes, it helps you save on home maintenance and energy costs.Make Your Fan a Smart FanWith the DewStop Condensation Sentry Fan Switch, you can transform your bathroom from ordinary to intelligent. This clever switch features a "Condensation Sentry", which constantly monitor's temperature, humidity, and dew point to determine a room's condensation level. If the sensor detects rising condensation levels, it will automatically turn on your fan and keep it on until the condensation is no longer a concern and your room is dry. Automatic or Manual Fan ControlYou can rely on the DewStop Condensation Sentry Fan Switch's sensor to control condensation for you, or you can manually turn on your fan when needed--a built-in timer will turn the fan off after 30 minutes, or you can turn the fan off yourself before the time is up.Perfect for Bathrooms, Laundry Rooms, and Home SpasThe DewStop Condensation Sentry Fan Switch is great for use in bathrooms, laundry rooms, sun rooms, spa rooms, and all condensation-prone areas of the home. Packaged as a single fan switch that's easy to install, this unique device can be connected with any residential fan you care to use.NOTE: A closed room and quality fan properly sized for the room is essential to the successful removal of moisture. DewStop only detects condensation, it cannot stop it.Easy InstallationWhether your fan is controlled by a timer or toggle, you'll have no trouble removing its switch and replacing it with DewStop. DewStop's size and shape are the same as a rocker switch, so it will fit right into your existing single-switch position. DewStop comes with a decor/rocker single-position color-matching faceplate, but it can be used with a faceplate of any color or configuration designed for a rocker-type light switch.Prevents Mold, Mildew, and Expensive RepairsMold needs moisture and time to grow. If left unchecked, it can get into walls and cause costly cosmetic, health, and structural problems. That's why the DewStop Condensation Sentry Fan Switch ensures your room is never left damp, so mold has little chance to grow. DewStop does this by detecting moisture and running your fan long enough to dry out a damp environment. This greatly reduces the formation of mold, mildew, and harmful bacteria and saves you from expensive repairs. The DewStop Condensation Sentry Fan Switch is UL certified. It has an electrical input of 120 volts and a maximum fan load of 3 amps. What's in the BoxDewStop FS-100 Condensation Sentry Fan Switch (White), wire nuts, and installation guide. From the Manufacturer DewStop is intended for use in condensation problem areas of a home, such as near the shower or bath. If condensation is a problem or suspected to be a problem, simply replace your existing fan switch with the DewStop Fan Switch. For DewStop to sense dew (condensation), the room will need to show visible signs of wetness attaching to the surfaces, such as steam on walls, mirrors or fixtures. Visible steam in the air is not the problem, the problem occurs when moisture in the air becomes too heavy and the air cannot support the moisture. The moisture then moves to surfaces (this is the dew point), triggering the DewStop sensors. The remarkable DewStop fan switch is constantly checking the air for condensation. At the right time, DewStop will turn on your fan and run the fan to clear the room. After the room is clear of moisture, DewStop turns off your fan. Your fan can also be manually operated at any time. This model is for use with any residential fan. The Patent Pending sensor "Condensation Sentry" is at the top. The middle button turns on the fan and the bottom button turns off the fan manually. The sensor needs no maintenance and provides a lifetime of use. The DewStop Fan Switch helps prevent costly repairs due to the growth of mold or bacteria by monitoring and controlling condensation. The DewStop Fan Switch is UL certified. The electrical input is 120 volts and the maximum fan load is 3 amps. The DewStop Fan Switch is great for use in bathrooms, laundry rooms, sun rooms, spa rooms and all condensation areas of the home.

Very Pleased Customer
I had trouble installing this at first and was about to send it back. I sent the seller a note asking for help. They responded by email the very next day, which was nice. It didn't solve my problem though and when I wrote them back to tell them that, they called me...like right away...and walked me through where I was having trouble. When I went back to try their suggestion, they were spot on. Spoiler: If you open up your switch and think there are only two wires to connect a three wire DewStop, look in the back of the junction box. The white wire are back there. I'm giving these guys FIVE STARS for having a product that does what it says it will do, and for customer support that is hard to find today. Hope you guys go far. So you know, this is not a paid for review. I bought this thing at full price. I'll probably buy another DewStop for another bathroom too.

This is a great concept, but doesn't work in its execution
This is my second switch and neither one works well. I purchased the first one (which was an older model) while doing house renovations. By the time I got to installing the switch I was outside of the return date. The switch would not turn on from the moisture in the room. If I blew on the switch it would turn on, but would not turn on from the moisture otherwise. Basically it was just an expensive timer.I bought this newer model because you can adjust the sensitivity. Now it is either too sensitive or not sensitive enough. If I turn up the sensitivity, then the fan turns on when I turn on my sink faucet, but not when the shower is on and the room is steaming up. This may be because the switch is just above the sink, while much lower than the ceiling where the shower steam collects. This is a great concept, but doesn't work in its execution.

Doesn't perform well in automatic mode
I am currently using it only as a timer (manually turning it on, let it run for a preset time). With normal or higher moisture sensitivity it just randomly turns on when nobody is using the shower and doesn't when the shower is actually used... I ended up just setting it to minimum sensitivity and opting for manual On/Off. Thankfully it at least has a built-in timer or it would be a very expensive rocker switch...

Excellent product and customer service too!
I ordered both an FS-100 and FS-200 DewStop Condensation Control Switch back in 2010. I installed them myself, and had them both work flawlessly. Based on this performance, I purchased another one for the 3rd bathroom and had the same experience. During the winter of 2012-2013, one of the FS-200 switches started randomly running the fan during the night, then shutting off. Sometimes I could hit the fan switch and it would shut off, sometimes it would restart after a minute or so. When spring came this stopped, so I didn't give it another thought. Now in summer with the A/C running, it started to do the same thing just last week. I checked the wiring and everything was tight. I decided to call DewStop and ask them about it to see if there was anything else I could check. After being on hold for a couple of minutes, the rep came back and told me they would be happy to send me a replacement free of charge if I would ship the bad one back! I never expected this since the switch is almost 3 years old, but I happily accepted the offer and thanked them very much too. The rep said she would also send a return label for the bad switch so I don't have to pay return postage. Quite frankly I would have purchased another one since I've been so happy with the performance of them as a whole, and written this one off to a bad one in the lot. DewStop truly exceeded my expectations and showed how a company should stand behind their products!

An excellent solution, highly recommended.
Love it!I put it in mostly to give auto off capabilities in my daughter's bathroom (They leave the fan on 24/7 because hitting a button is so hard) And it exceeded my expectations. Now they don't even have to touch it. IT comes on shortly after the shower turns on and back off within 45 or so minutes of them being done. and if they turn it on by hand then it shuts off within 30 minutes! I love it!It swapped into the old switches position without any hassle and it can be done by anyone who has some knowledge about changing a light switch. It has been operating for about 4 months now and I couldn't be happier.I am trying to list a con but honestly there are none that I have found but I will update this review if my experience changes.Just my thoughts,AK

Condensation not Relative humidity
This is a condensation sensing switch and not one that senses relative humidity of x % and turns on the fan. That said, I installed it in my kids bath right next to the shower and at a height of about 7 ft and it turns on automatically after every shower so its working well. If you manually turn on the fan, it runs for 30 mins and auto shuts off. Very convenient but where you place it is very critical to how well it operates for you. Get it as close to the shower as you can and as high as you can so it can sense the condensation. It was a lot cheaper to get this switch and a Panasonic whisper ceiling fan than a panasonic fan with built in humidity sensor. That said, if you already have a switch box far away from the ideal placement, a fan with a built in humidity sensor may be a better fit for you, albeit more expensive.

What I needed
I was having humidity and condensation problems in my laundry room. The drier vent was connected clean and working, so I eliminated that as a cause. I checked the attic for leaks and found none, leaving the washer and drier as the most probable cause for the problem. The room is interior to the house and has no windows. I have a wall mounted exhaust fan which was noisy and switch operated and was also only about 4 feet off the floor in a room with 9' ceilings. After consulting with manufacturer, regarding a ceiling mount for the switch, I purchased and installed it in the ceiling, along with a new 110 CFM fan. So far, no more condensation on the ceiling or walls. Operation is on the automatic mode, so it runs when needed.
