Sleep A30 by Anker Sleep Earbuds

These were my second brand of sleep earbuds I've tried. I've used this for 2 weeks now and figured out how to use it. Its going to sound really weird but you need to let it stretch your earholes out. For the first 3 nights it was really uncomfortable and weird, it felt like a foreign object in my ear and the lower inner part of my ear got sore. Every night I was testing different configurations and landed on small silicone plugs and medium wings. On the 4th night onwards my earholes were stretched out to the point where I didnt feel any uncomfyness inside and ouside my ear. I can still listen to my airpods just fine btw, stretched earholes arent bad. The ANC works much better when you sleep on your side and Id 100% recommend this for side sleepers. If you are a back sleeper the ANC is just ok and you are better off wearing foam ear plugs if you want to block 100% noise out. The white colour is cream coloured fyi not pure white like the image. The purple one looks more white than the white one haha. The case feels nice to open and close, theres a little tactile part for where to open which is really thoughtful especially when Im searching for it at night and theres a rubber base to prevent it slipping off the desk. I recharge the case once a week based on my configs. This is my configuration as I use these only for sleep - default local audio mode, storm audio + ANC, audio to stop when I fall asleep and ANC is kept on. I sleep for 8 hours and wake up to 20-30% battery. The ANC, like all ANCs is good for covering low noises like moving traffic/highways, annoyingly loud exhausts etc but not as good for high noises like people yelling, trucks backing up etc. Thats why I always pair the ANC with audio, it cuts the noise out for me 95% when side sleeping which is more than enough to fall asleep. Only thing Id ask Soundcore is to have more audio sounds in the app. The app works fine for me btw.

These are non-functional for their intended purpose unless you require very little sleep. First, the volume level of these speakers seems very low by default. Compared to my other earbuds (an older set of Space A40s and a set of Bose QuietComfort 2024 earbuds that I tried), these required a much higher volume level across all types of listening scenarios. The volume issue is relevant because it affects the earbuds' noise masking/cancelling capabilities as well as how much battery life you can expect from one full charge. I wanted earbuds that I could use with ANC on for at least 6+ hours to block my partner's snoring. I also wanted to be able to stream ambient sounds/music/white noise over bluetooth the whole night as a sleep aid. (I tried the built-in noise masking options, including the option to customize your masking sound, and disliked how low-quality and harsh they all sounded.) These earbuds only last 6.5 hours max when brand new in my preferred mode of use. I need more sleep than 6.5 hours most nights, and because lithium ion batteries degrade, these buds would only be even partially functional as a sleep aid for me for a few months, if that. These buds thus seem like a poor value for the money for how I want to use them. The A30s also seem overpriced, even by Anker's standards, because they just announced an upgraded version of these buds (advertised to have a longer battery life than these regular A30s) that will be sold for $20 less than the launch price and advertised MSRP of the original A30s. I also strongly dislike the shoehorning of AI bloat in the updated soundcore app. The "brainwave audio" tracks are all quite annoying/distracting, imo, and it looks like Anker generated a bunch of non-cohesive AI slop images to accompany the sleep tips portion of the app. Sucks that Anker would rather generate cheap visual soup than hire designers or artists who could create cohesive and relevant art. The transition from bluetooth audio to the noise masking sound in local audio mode, which can be triggered when sleep is detected to preserve battery life, was abrupt enough (due to how much louder the the noise-masking sound with no ANC seemed compared to the volume of bluetooth audio + ANC) that it woke me from sleep several times, which was also pretty annoying. I don't care about or even really trust the accuracy of the sleep tracking features in the soundcore app/these earbuds, so I didn't test or even set up that part of the app. As far as positives go, the buds really are small and lightweight. I struggled to find a good combination of ear tips and wings that would lead to a secure, noise-blocking fit in each ear, but that's not unusual for me. The silicone material seemed nice enough, and I liked the sliding case lid. Overall, I cannot recommend the Sleep A30s as a sleep aid. The set I tried is being returned due to the short battery life when brand new and the lack of good app features or built-in noise masking sounds.

Full disclosure - I have smaller ears and canals, and I am a side sleeper and I have been using these for the last 7 days. I am moving to a new town and decided to rent an apartment for a year to help me decide where to buy a house. Well, the apartment walls and floors are not well insulated. I hear footsteps, creaking floors, snoring through the wall, and sometimes can hear the tv shows they watch. Needless to say, I was having serious trouble sleeping. I could fall asleep pretty well (go to bed early), but I would be awakened at some point, or several points, in the night by all these noises, banging, walking, creaking, and snoring and was not able to get back to sleep. I needed something to help. I tried Mack's foam ear plugs. They work pretty good for noise reduction, but my ears would hurt and throb making my sleep difficult in that way. I even had the small ears size. They were comfortable to side sleep with. I bought some fake Loop alternatives as just ear plugs. They were comfortable, did not throb like the Mack's in my ears, but did not block out enough sound. When I tried a bigger ear plug piece, I found the throbbing ear syndrome again. These were comfortable to side sleep with though. I then bought a cheap knock off brand of "sleep buds". They were the most comfortable thus far. They would bluetooth to my phone so I could play either music or some white noise from my phone. They claimed to have ANC. They were helpful to block out some sound because of the ear fit, and because they could bluetooth to my phone for music or white noise. However, with the ANC on or off, I did not detect any difference in sound reduction. These were kidney bean shaped sleep buds and did not stick out much from my ear. The ear plug piece was comfortable, but the harder plastic part would start to be annoying after a few hours when on my side. They were ok. Sound quality was decent. Maybe a C+ for an overall grade for these. However, they didn't stop all the sounds and I still woke up occasionally. I hesitantly tried the A30's. This is no small investment! With the rubbery ear plug piece and ear fin, these buds were comfortable. While on my side, they have been the most comfortable thus far. I can sleep well with them in actually. I still have a little bit of pressure while on my side, but some nifty pillow management helped relieve the pressure. I am using the attachments they came with out of the box. I really like the white noise sounds. I have Still Lake as my favorite. It is a sutble sound that helps my brain drift off. With the fit of the A30 alone, I can block out most of the noise for the night with these standard size pieces without using ANC. Last night, I had both my wife snoring and banging on the ceiling above. (To be honest, my wife's snoring is not super loud but enough to wake me up). Then I realized I didn't have the ANC on. Well, i turned the ANC on and WOW what a difference. It was almost like I had over the ear headphones with ANC on. All that noise disappeared. I was very impressed, at least I recall being impressed. I was asleep!! The sound quality is perfect for night time sleeping. In reading other reviews, I agree that these are not your everyday all day ear buds, they are really designed for sleeping only. The ANC works really well and I noted quite a difference between on and off. Last night I set them to use ANC until I was alseep and then go to local mode. After 8 hours, I still had 30% of the battery left in each ear bud. So far, the battery life has been great. I have yet to spend a whole night with bluetooth and ANC on, however. I haven't needed to. I know at $200 it seems like a lot to spend for ear buds that you only use for sleep and that aren't designed for super high quality audio sounds. However, this week has been the best sleep week I've had in two months since those neighbors upstairs moved in. You do need several nights to get used to the fit and feel. Not because they are uncomfortable, but because when something new is in your ear and you aren't used to it, it can feel funny and weird which may keep you awake instead of helping you sleep. But, give it a few nights, and if you are like me, they get more comfortable the more you wear them. I can sleep on my side with these but I need a soft pillow. A really firm pillow would hurt my ears after a few hours, as it would everyone else with anything in their ear. Everyone is a different size and shape, but I have found these A30's to be comfortable, and of high quality. The app is full of options to help customize the experience, and they do what they claim they will do. After this week, my wife (who is very thrifty) is asking if she can try these out and maybe get a pair because she notices such a difference in my morning wakefulness. Hope this helps those of you out there like me needed something to help get your sleep back. I would definitely buy again and am grateful for this product.

I purchased these for the specific use case: fall asleep in my bed listening to ASMR. Being advertised as 'for sleep' I thought they would be able to meet my needs. However, I subsequently decided to return them after giving them a try. Pros: - They are 100% comfortable and do not fall out when laying down. They provided rubber cushion sizes for many ear sizes. - The noise cancellation works great. Compared to my over-ear headphones that sometimes have issues due to the mic being blocked, these are reliable. - Battery life is great, you will never have issues at night. - They are very catered for sleep, giving you alarm settings, and a huge library of sleep aide sounds that can play when the earbuds are otherwise idle via the app. Cons: - Poor sound quality. At $200, these earbuds very obviously produce much worse sound than my Pixel Buds A and my newly purchased Final ZE500 (both under $100) which is unfortunate, because other Anker products I own sound great. (The Soundcore 2 speaker is excellent for the price) - Poor sound profile. The bass is so over-pronounced, it might be the most bassy headphones I've heard, and I've listened to Beats. Other ranges are heavily muted, which, combined with the sound quality, causes many details from my ASMR tracks to come out as muddy noise in my opinion. My assumption is that they wanted to smooth out the sharp highs and make the bass boomy to remove sounds that might be uncomfortable when trying to fall asleep. - Removed EQ functionality from the previous model, even though they use the same app. This is just annoying considering the profile. I wish they just gave us a balanced sound profile, with and EQ option for enhancing sleep comfort. While these are decent headphones, I think they are so specialized, to a fault. If you just want to eliminate all other noises and put on some comforting low volume music as you drift off to sleep, or like the extra feature sleep noises they provide, these are perfect. However if you just wanted the most comfortable earbuds to wear in bed, but otherwise want them to work like a premium pair of earbuds, I think you may be disappointed. If you are like me and want to listen to ASMR in bed, I purchased the Final Audio ZE500 after trying these, and they are absolutely perfect for that and just as comfortable. I will review those as well.

I wanted to like the Soundcore Sleep A30 because the noise cancellation is genuinely excellent. Once I found the right ear-tip size, the ANC became even better and did a great job reducing fan noise and other sounds around me. The Soundcore app is also useful, with sleep tracking, alarms, sleep sounds, and other sleep-focused features. Unfortunately, the biggest problem is that the earbuds simply do not stay in my ears while I sleep. I tried every included ear-wing size, multiple ear-tip sizes, different positioning, and several nights of testing. They can feel completely secure while I’m awake, even when I roll around or move my head against the pillow, but after several hours of actual sleep they still work themselves loose and fall out. This is especially frustrating if you move around a lot in your sleep because you wake up having to carefully locate the earbuds so you don’t accidentally roll over or step on them. I also had a charging issue with the left earbud. It stayed at a very low battery percentage while the right earbud and case were fully charged. I eventually discovered that one of the ear wings was interfering with the charging connection, even though the earbud looked like it was seated correctly. The included charging cable is another weak point. It’s extremely short, and the USB-C connection doesn’t feel very secure. My Chromebook USB-C charger actually fits the case more reliably than the cable Soundcore included. There are definitely things I like about the A30. The ANC is impressive, the app has a lot of useful features, and they’re comfortable when they stay positioned correctly. But for something specifically designed to be worn while sleeping, reliable overnight retention is extremely important, and that’s where these failed for me. They may work perfectly for someone who doesn’t move much during sleep or whose ears match the shape of the earbuds better, but they weren’t reliable enough for me.

The good news: I am sleeping in the same bed with my snoring husband again for the first time in a year. Which was the goal. So I would indeed by these again. What's frustrating is, like others have mentioned, that for the price you expect better and clearer app functionality. I have not been able to get the buds to function exactly as I want (fall asleep in bluetooth mode listening to a sleep meditation, switch to snore-blocking local sounds once I fall asleep to ensure battery lasts the night), and I am unwilling to experiment and try again, because as someone who normally sleeps with ear plugs, the nights where I wound up with no sound in my ear buds, no ANC, and honestly what sounded to me like 'transparency mode' letting sounds in more loudly were some of the worst nights sleep I've had in a while, much worse than my nights with normal earplugs. What's great is my first night sharing a bed with the snorer, the earbuds did recommend the best snore-masking nature white noise to cover my husbands snores better than what I'd picked, and their analysis was correct. I've now slept 3 nights in a row with ANC on and their suggested snore-masking white noise, on local mode. The earbuds last through the night, and I'm sleeping through the night. Feels like a small miracle. I love Soundcore. I've switched to their other headphone products to replace Bose and Jabra products, and for all of their other headphones they have FAR better functionality and reliable connectivity compared to those more expensive brands. When I friend shared that she's using Ozmo earbuds for sleep, I searched to see if there was a more affordable version. It was a no brainer to me to try the Soundcore ones since their other headphones have all been amazing in their reliability and app switching and connectivity. I figured I would not have the issues everyone else did with the app. Unfortunately, I did. But. They are connecting, they're staying connecting, and they're doing their job. But as the most I've spent on a Soundcore product, dissappointed they haven't figured out the app functionality better. Hopefully future updates will improve. In the meantime, I'm happy to have purchased them even if they don't get the fix, and to be back in my own bed again, finally. But can't give them 5 stars till the app is worked out.

I typically do not leave product reviews but I am compelled to do so as these headphones changed my life. I am a very light sleeper and my partner is a very heavy and aggressive snorer. So much so if I change rooms I still need to wear headphones to block out the snoring. I also have very tiny ear canals and am a side sleeper. All things considered, I have tried just about every headphone, earbud, headband you can think of. I came across a recommendation for these and was skeptical based on the reviews. But I was desperate and decided to try them out. I have waited a few weeks to review so I didn’t jump to any conclusions, but for two weeks straight I have not heard a second of snoring. I genuinely didn’t get any sleep the first night I wore them because I kept thinking something was wrong because I DIDN’T hear anything. They are also extremely comfortable, as much as they can be with sitting in your ear all night. A few things I will note. The app is terrible. The functionality is clunky, you can’t connect without having the earbuds activated, and really it doesn’t do much in terms of what a sleep app could. That being said, the noise canceling soundscapes work really well for my sleep style so that’s great for me. I run them on “local mode” and not thru my Bluetooth and I also run them continuously thru the night for about 7 hours and have yet to lose a charge. There is also a stark difference between regular mode and noise canceling mode. I’ve accidentally turned off the noise canceling mid-sleep and it honestly does less than those over the ear headbands. So keeping that on is important. I also appreciate the way that the noise canceling sound works so I don’t need to have the volume turned on high to mask the sound. I’ve always worried about in-in white noise and hearing loss but these I’m about to keep reasonable and still get the desired effect. I also wish they would come with XS memory foam ear tips. The small is too big with the firmness but the silicone ones are fine. But there are 4 sizes of silicone and 3 of memory foam to choose from so they are very adjustable. In terms of the value - my sleep is priceless. Yes these are expensive but for me, they were worth every penny. If it’s between getting mediocre sleep with cheaper headphones or getting uninterrupted sleep with expensive ones, I’ll spend the money any time. I think the one thing I wish would be better, especially for the name brand and price, is that app. It leaves much to be desired. Then again, I guess they put all their energy into the earbud itself so I can’t get that too bent out of shape. As far as I’m concerned these are the best sleeping earbuds on the market to cancel out snoring without damaging my hearing in the process.

One month update: I've been using these off and on for a month, and I'm in a place right now where I've dialed them in and have been using the regularly as of late. I think they're great and I've not really had any connectivity or issues with one bud not being on and the other on since I had that issue at the beginning. I still don't love the sounds the app comes with by default. I was using Stormfall for a bit but I just prefer the custom brown noise I made in the app which is less distracting. In terms of ear comfort I've been using the memory foam inserts and like those a lot, but I'm not sure how often they need to be replaced and how much those cost. I find if I insert the buds too well I end up just hearing the pulse in my head which is an issue I've always had with ear plugs while sleeping, but just backing it out slightly is enough to fix that. The ear buds have remained very comfortable for side sleeping. A few things to keep in mind: The sleep report feature is fun but basically junk. Don't buy this as any kind of intelligent sleep tracker. Also, for some reason there's an AI chat bot in the app? Hilariously senseless. Otherwise, very happy with the purchase still! Initial review: It's only been a few nights with these but I'm very happy so far. Before this I would wear wired earbuds with my iPhone playing my preferred type of white noise, or bose QC35 ii for really challenging sleep environments. I also occasionally would try airpod pros but only got 4 hours of battery on those before it would wake me up with the world's most annoying low power chime. All of these options were very unpleasant to wear but I felt I had no choice as I am an extremely light sleeper and find any variation in sounds to be extremely challenging for sleep. My first few nights with these have been quite pleasant. They block a lot of sound right out of the gate as they function as a sort of ear plug, but far more comfortable than normal ear plugs which I never wanted to wear for sleep. The noise cancelling seems to be pretty effective, and I couldn't hear one of our dogs whining to come into our bed last night (he's a good boy though). Given their low profile they are quite comfortable to wear while side sleeping. I also love just being able to get up to go to the bathroom and keep them in and not think about it. To me, the biggest question will be battery life and degradation over time. So far, zero issues with these things lasting through the night on a mix of bluetooth and local modes with the default ANC off after it detects sleep (no clue how it does that but I didn't notice it turning off and it didn't impact my sleep when it did). It's not all roses. Last night only one earbud would turn on so I had to put them both back into the case and try again, then it worked fine (reminded me of the airpod pros, so I'm used to that). The default sounds in the app I find very puzzling. I am the kind of person that cannot sleep with inconsistent sounds like rain, forest sounds, waves, etc. yet those are all the defaults in the app which makes no sense to me. I need consistent brown noise or airplane engine noise. Hearing the gentle sounds of a bird calling in the distance or random thunder is guaranteed to keep me from falling asleep. The White Noise app I've used for years on the iPhone has an Airplane cabin sound that I find to be my preferred sound. Unfortunately, the airplane sound in the Soundcore app has way too much bass, which also makes no sense to me. Bass is one of the WORST offenders for sleep quality in my experience. Thankfully, I was able to design my own white noise in the app using the brown noise setting so I've been using that, but it really should have been a default! I am going to update this review over the coming year as I use these but, so far, I've been very happy with them and I am absolutely the target customer for these as I was already using far less comfortable and frustrating options before.

I’ve been using it for a month now, and it’s the best purchase I’ve ever made! I’ve been sleeping so much better, the noise cancellation is absolutely amazing, it’s comfortable to sleep with, the app is super easy and super cool. I also use as normal earbuds to listen to music and specially for audiobooks, when I don’t want to be distracted by the outside noise. Absolutely amazing product!

I really love these. I have used them the last 4 nights and have already slept so much better. It hasn't quite picked up my partners snoring yet (not sure how 😅) but I still have things to try. The microphone is on the back next to the usb-c port so I had it facing the wrong way. Even without that feature properly working yet, they have allowed me to listen to podcasts on my side while drifting off to sleep 😊
