and getting back into what I believe to be the best overall power lift exercise on the planet
I"m 63 years old, and getting back into what I believe to be the best overall power lift exercise on the planet, and that is the dead lift. I never heard about the Hex Bar until a power lifter neighbor of mine told me about it. I purchased this product and have used for approximately 150 reps over a span of a month. I'm dead lifting 300 lb 1RM for the first time in my life using this Hex bar, I know it's not that great but it is for me remember I'm 63 years old. Why is this Synergee Hex bar the best? I am so impressed with the fact that using this style of Dead lifting equipment it reduces the chance of injury because it forces you to do the exercise with the proper form. I am actually able to dead lift more weight with less stress on the lower Lumbar, the workouts feel great, I'm suffering absolutely no pain, except for the good pain that comes with building muscle. I absolutely recommend this Hex bar for serious dead lifters, beginners, old guys like me who want to get back into shape, and also the bar weighs 55 lbs unlike the conventional Olympic straight bar that weighs 45 lbs, so immediately your already lifting more weight. Great product, I'm very glad I purchased it

Good for very young or significantly old lifters -- but not for the seriously strong
First, the two caveats — (a) limited plate capacity and (b) virtually non-existent shipping packaging(a) This hex bar's 10 inch (25 centimeter) sleeves are much too short to load it up to the 600 pound-plus weight that serious lifters are routinely going to want it to carry.By my calculations, the Synergy hex bar's maximum plate capacity comes to about 502 pounds, using my steel plate set as somewhat representative. The Synergy's 10 inch (25 centimeter) sleeves will hold five 45 pound steel plates per side. Mine are 4 centimeters thick at their rims.Add in a 4.5cm thick Proloc collar. In making these calculations for you own plate set, consider that achieving max capacity is going to require your heaviest plates. If those are all from the same manufacturer, they will have the same cross-plate diameter. Thus, their rims will touch. In my above example, this Synergy's maximum workout capacity comes to 450 pounds, plus the additional weight of the hex bar itself. My sample of the Synergy hex bar weighs 52 pounds. This gives us about 502 pounds total capacity.Your numbers will differ (but probably not by a lot), depending upon dimensions of your weight plates and collars.Keep in mind that the larger across your plates — as 50 and 100 pound plates will be inevitably be — the higher off the floor the Synergy bar is going to be. Which somewhat defeats the purpose of the lift.(b) With regard to the packaging negative, Synergy's shipping wrapping (in my case) consisted of a thin plastic bag and thin bubble wrap. Both were torn and hanging, upon arrival. The positives -- decent quality that serves its purposeMy sample of this Synergy hex barbell is well-built and cosmetically adequate. For its price, I have no complaints whatsoever.RecommendedFor non-giant people just beginning a strength-building program — or for those who suffer from spinal injuries or Age's decrepitude — this sturdy Synergy hex bar is a much-appreciated value.

5 stars for the bar...1star for packing (none)
I spotted this bar on Amazon and it really peaked my interest. I have been lifting since 1974 so always on the lookout for new quality gear to keep things interesting. First off, this thing is a solid piece of heavy metal. Heavier than an Olympic straight bar for sure. Nice chrome finish, the welds look ok to me, no sharp edges anywhere. The grip sections keep it from slipping with or without gloves. I am used to regular deadl lifts but this does offer a different angle to hit the same muscles and I can do more weight with this bar. I really like doing Romanian dead lift with this and even did some presses but that got a little tricky to rack and unpack in my garage. The plate ends are 10 inches so extra room for more weights. Plenty of room in the cage section so no hitting the shins. The only con was the total lack of ANY packing, box, plastic to protect it while shipping. It took a few dings but nothing major...but quite a surprise when delivered. This bar is pricy compared to others, so for the money, why not at least put some bubble wrap on it.Overall, happy with it and can recommend it. I look forward to exploring new exercises or trying old ones with a twist.

The worst packaging ever
See the picture of how it came. They put the strap at the weakest part of the packaging where the plates would go so it ripped right through the box. There is no padding whatsoever inside. The bar is okay but if it wasn't for a nation wide shortage of fitness equipment I'd say it's not worth the money. So in current times you can't be too picky. The welding is okay but the paint on the bar is just cheaply done and comes off easily. Now the worst part of all, Synergee includes several pieces of literature that ask us to contact them to resolve these issues before leaving a negative review. I tried to call at 9:00 am, 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm on 3 different days each time the phone rings for about 45 secs and I get an automated message that all circuits are busy. I guess I one star review is my only course of action.I expect this level of quality and service from a sub $100 bar but at $220?

Love this bar!
I haven't really been able to do deadlifts over 135 lbs because of previous back issues. Read a lot of reviews about using a hex bar. I decided to get one because my gym doesn't have one. I went for the chrome one, just for aesthetic reasons. Came wrapped in plastic, the label barely made it, but the bar was fine. Survived the UPS gauntlet without a scratch. Used it the day it arrived! After warming up with 135 went to 165. Finished up 4th set of 220 for 10 reps!! Would never have been able to do that with a standard bar. Wether you get the chrome version or basic one, this 59 year old guy definitely recommends getting it.

Works!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This hex bar is definitely something special. I have a injured body an this allows me to focus my glutes an quads for deadlifts which has made me better at conventional straight bar deadlifts. :) the only problem is the sleeves are quite short. I feel w a few months of training imma need to get a new hexbar that holds more weight.

Great gym resource for "leg day"!
Excellent for safe lifting for leg day! Many times, this type of bar is advertised for deadlifting, but I found that my lifts with this bar feel more like a squat. In any case, this bar puts my back in a safe position that also forces the quads and glutes to do the work...and keeps the back out of the picture. I should have been using this type of bar years ago.

Looks solid, but has some rust and oil all over it
Looks solid.Box arrived damaged, it's only lightly protected for a 60 pounds bar. The bar went through the thin plywood and through the box. It does not appear to be damaged though. It's coated all over in antirust oil so it smells and it's greasy. I wiped it all over with a cloth to remove most of the oil. There are some rust streaks on the bar even though it was oiled, maybe some spots were missed I don't know. For the price it's still a good option, I had assumed that it was powdercoated or something like the rogue bar, but it's not. It's black steel. Still a good choice, much cheaper than the rogue bar and shipping is much less.

Would not recommend zero star
Poorly packaged. Recieved an refurbished product with damage. The coating on the bar smells really bad every time you grab the bar, your hands will get dirty. This is the second time I am posting my feedback I do not understand why I can't upload the pictures I took. I cant believe I have to return it while we are in lock down

Made strong, will help get you strong.
I have only used a trap bar once, and I really don't recall it rocking/tipping so much. I found I had to relearn how to use and reset myself up a few times per use. Like others, the box was damaged, but that was ok, as they shipped it in a second box, within a bag. The bar has that 'new bar smell', no surprise, and I dont spend much time sniffing it. I was really taken back on how the handles felt. Before getting this bar, I had worked myself up to lifting160lbs- and that is me at 5'1, starting back in March this year at 50 lbs. I loaded this bar at 115 and it hurt my hands something fierce, blistering them, making it uncomfortable to lift. I guess it's the slightly raised coding on them. I have since wrapped the handles with electrical tape, and that has helped. I am waiting for some straps to be delivered to give an extra buffer on the hands. Happy Lifting all!
