I use the 1000 grit as a final sanding on my sculpted rocking chairs. Yes, Abralon will work on wood and bring it to a real glow. Depending on sandpaper availability I use regular sanding discs up to 400 grit and then move to Abralon 1000. The life of the abralon disc varies, though I normally use only one or two discs on a project. The 20-pack I bought 10 years ago still has 3 discs left.I have also used it as a finishing on turned projects.

These work great for automotive wet sanding. Wish they came in a 800 grit.
