World Geography, Middle Grades & Up (Daily Skill Builders) (Volume 7)

Good and Bad!
I bought this workbook for review pages for an "I'm done" station for my sixth graders. And for my struggling learners to do with their paras when the class work is too hard. I love these half pages for these purposes. There are tons of great pages to choose from. The bad thing is though, the maps included in the back of the book, that you need for lots of these pages do not copy well as there is too much grey and the fonts are super tiny. I have Googled my own maps to use that are better. Also, a good number of these pages are best done just straight Googling. For example, there is a page on water in the Middle East, but there is no reading to go with the activity so the only way the kids will know the answers is to Google. Still, for what I purchased this for, it served my purpose.

Great Addition for any History or Geography Curriculum
World Geography: Daily Skill Builders is a great classroom supplement to add to any history or geography curriculum. Depending on the complexity of each skill builder, I assign one, two, or four per day. My seventh grade students take two to ten minutes to complete each skill builder which depends on the research or map plotting involved. I trust that this supplement could be used for the grades suggested as well.

I like the quick activities
I like the quick activities. They are perfect for a jumpstart, but the maps are blurry and difficult to read. You will have to supply a different atlas for students to use.

Needs legible maps!
It is a daily skill builder, as stated in the title, so do not purchase as a comprehensive curriculum. It would be fine as a skill builder, but the maps in the back are of very poor quality, and they are required for many of the activities. It seems a major editing oversight for a geography workbook to not have legible maps. The ones included are blurry, grainy, and shaded almost as if they wanted to make features hard to distinguish from one another. I still gave three stars because the activities themselves are useful, you will just have to find your own map resources. It starts with world and map overviews, and then goes through each of the continents. Physical geography, climate, culture, resources are some of the general topics covered for each continent, plus many other continent specific reviews. Upgrade the maps and I would give it at least 4, possibly 5, stars.

Great solid, direct geography program
Great solid, direct geography program. The kids can research in an atlas or using their ipad. This is the 2nd child I have used this for and it is a no hassle but solid approach to learning geography. I recommend this exact copy and not the newer one that says "common core standard" which is never as good as the previous versions of programs.

As it claims to be "Daily Skill Builder" - not a curriculum...BUT Ages 10-13 max.
This item is really only a good review for ages10 -13 or so. Yes it would help on standardized tests as a refresher... but your child will not learn "from" this text. As a homeschooling family though, we enjoy creating lessons from this guide using each activity as a review/quiz. This is simply a supplement and something that is easy to throw in the van and have the kids work on (or test each other) on car rides. It is very thin (70 pages of actual activities). I will attach some photos since I hate buying an item where I only see the cover!

For Geography Lovers
I homeschool my 12 year old daughter. She and I love Geography. Most Geography workbooks have a read a paragraph or page and answer the questions on the next page. This book has short lessons that are truly lessons. If she or I don't know an answer we must consult a globe, map, Atlas book, encyclopedia, or other resource. It teaches Geography but also research skills. Great for Homeschoolers or anyone who really wants to learn Geography fully and be able to converse intelligently about world affairs.
