From the studio that brought you Black Butler and Fullmetal Alchemist emerges the psychological thriller that will send you to bed with a cross in hand. When citizens of a secluded village begin dying off in alarming numbers, the sole hospital’s head doctor tries desperately to save his patients—but his efforts are in vain. Entire families are wiped out while others desert their homes. All hell breaks loose as the villagers discover their loved ones’ corpses are rising from the grave with an insatiable thirst for human blood. Haunting, hallucinogenic and unnerving to the core, Shiki stares into the hearts of both the hunter and the hunted. Who is safe when the urge to kill in order to survive blurs the line between man and monster?

Bloody Brilliant
It's hard to talk about this series without revealing spoilers as this show does a great job with the mystery genre. I bought this series with the intention of having no idea what it was about, apart from what I had seen in a fan-made trailer on youtube. A quiet village way out in the Japanese countryside, far from city life and civilisation, is suddenly plagued by an unfathomable illness taking the lives of one family after another. The village doctor, Ozaki strives to unravel the mystery of these deaths.A must-watch for any anime fan who enjoys bloody horror, a good mystery, and sympathy for the devil...so to speak. This bluray/DVD combo was an absolute steal for around £15. HMV was selling the DVD only version for £40.(A multi-region blu-ray player is the best investment I ever made.)

Awesome show, essentially this is an eastern remake of Stephen Kings Salem's Lot
So if you know the book/TV series of Stephen Kings Salem's Lot then you know what to expect here... Kind of...What is clever about Shiki is that it takes this story and makes it its own, weaving in eastern customs and mythologies and creating something far more than you'd expect out of it. This can be watched as a companion piece to Salem's Lot and compares well to it. The art is lovely and the writing is believable and realistic (well... as realistic as a vampire story can be of course) and we have a host of characters who will stay with you long after the show is over.

Mostly for anime veterans
The art style is a bit weird, but the story is so darn good.At the end of this, you will question...just who is the bad guy in this anime? I can't recommend this enough. And the music sound track is 100%

Everything but the discs are bad.
just recives this item, checked the discs for any physical marks but found none, i'll update if the discs have problems playing but so far assume they are just fine. The blue-ray case is very bad quality, already before unwrapping it i saw large visible cracks in the solid plastic in several places, and after opening and closing the case a couple of times the bottom locking mechanics broke off completly. The paper display is double sided which is pretty neat, one side has the picture of Sunako in the product image, a GIANT S.A.V.E logo/commercial on the side and then plot overview, specs/info and som imiges, while the other side have a picture of Natsuno on one side and an episode list on the other. Paper quality is on par with the casing.Overall the price is worth it because the sheer ammount of discs (8) included and the realy good anime, but i can clearely see where the SAVE part comes from, and i'd rather have payed a couple bucks more for a better quality casing.

Impressed
Love the anime series a whole lot and I liked how it came with both the regular DVDs and the Blue-ray additions. The one problem for me was that it only works with certain Area Codes...so, It will not work with Ps3, Xbox or a few other DVD players. So, just watch out for that...Hope you enjoy this product and if you are new to Shiki then I definitely recommend it!

Great Insight into Human Psyche
I'll admit, I didn't like this show at first, and stopped watching before I finished it. A few years went by, and I tried it again, this time watching the entire series through. I LOVED IT!!! So much so that I immediately bought it on Blu-ray and watched it two more times. Actually, I loved it so much, when a seller caused problems on a different site, I went ahead and bought 7 copies out of spite. No regrets. The show focuses on an entire rural community, so the first watch-through you're going to learn all the characters and their own individual stories. I think what made this so much more engrossing my second time was knowing the characters, and seeing the good and bad in each of them. The writing is great, and really provides a dark take on humanity, as the humans and vampires clash and purposefully separate themselves from their own friends and families. The characters are all very diverse, and the more you pay attention to their interactions, the more the story progression makes sense. Everyone has their sane moments, and slowly slip into madness at different periods. The English dub is actually really good, and even though the art style annoyed me at first, I've come to absolutely adore it. The crazy hairstyles help the characters stand out, while the basic, boring landscapes emphasize just how rural and plain everything in the town is. I think it makes for a great balance, and keeps the focus where it is meant to be, on the humans and vampires. If you like gore, you will love the two OVA episodes. I had not seen them the first time watching the series online, but this set includes those two episodes where they fit into the story, towards the very end of the show. These two episode have so much more gore and psychotic episodes than the entire rest of the series. By this point in the show, everyone has lost their sanity, and the result is pure, unadulterated chaos. The series is so much better with these episodes, and I'm so thankful for Funimation for placing them in order, rather than at the end or under Special Features. The reversible cover is great, and although the spine of the box doesn't say Shiki on the one cover, it does have the title on the very back. I ended up placing this on my shelf so the back is visible, so it's not even an issue to me.Definitely recommend this to anyone who loves horror, gore, and human psychology. It's a great mix and makes for a really fun ride, especially at the very end of the series. I'm still kicking myself for not getting into this sooner. It's such a great series and deserves to be watched over and over again.

Especial.
Hacía tiempo que no veía nada vampiresco.Me gustó mucho. Buen final y divertida serie.
