Okay
A lot of good information, but I felt like I was being pushed into a feminist agenda. Stange for the type of book this is. I did learn a lot, but I began to wonder if what I was learning was all facts or the interpretation of the author.

Gives a new perspective into the colonization of America
This was a required reading in my college history class, but it also an amazing read for someone who has interest in Native American and early colonial histories. It corrects the myths that media has taught us about a timid Pocahontas and shows an accurate tale of her life.

A used book that is in very good condition.
For a used book from Goodwill the jacket cover, and pages appear in new condition. I look forward to reading on Native American history written by this associate professor of history. Thank you.

Not your Disney Pocahontas
This book was very informative and changed my ideas of this period of time with the Jamestown colony, Pocahontas and her tribe. It is a bit dry, as it is not a novel by any means. But it is presented as well researched -- it helped me to have a better grasp of this historical "event".

Please, Don't Buy This Book!!
For your own sanity, don't buy this book. If you really love the story of Pocahontas as portrayed by Disney, then stay FAR away from this book! Camille Townsend destroys that image of Pocahontas and creates a new, more flimsy image that is created by a ton of speculation. I had to read this book for my Honors History course in college and I disliked it so much. It was boring and slow, mostly taking the time to talk about the English rather than the Native American princess herself. Plus, Townsend never even addresses what the Powhatan Dilemma is, or what Pocahontas has to do with it. Just do yourself a favor and don't buy this book, unless you really want to know about English culture, Virginia, or Native Americans at the time. But even then, it's not very helpful with that either.
