This bell makes a loud and clear ring. (Loud and clear unlike cast iron bells, which look nice but don't ring loud enough to be a door bell) It's been mounted in Maine for a year and aside from natural weathering, it looks lovely. You could probably polish it you like, but if you like patinas, don't bother. The mounting is sturdy, graceful and narrow enough to fit on any door jamb. The braided rope stands up to weather, looking new despite a Maine winter.This will make a lovely gift!

very high quality and great sound

Love this dinner bell. Timeless ring, nice antique look, easy to install and use. Solid metal, this will probably last longer than me. Kids come running from within a few hundred feet whenever we ring it. The neighbors smile.

I ordered this bell as an addition to my bell collection. What a beautiful bell ! It is even more beautiful in person than in the pictures . I am very happy with my new bell and will surely enjoy it for many years to come.

I wanted something smallish, but not comically small, to hang near our bar. This is genuinely some quality brass manufacturing and it does have a nice ring that lingers. The tone is a bit higher than a ship's bell might be, so be aware it is a higher pitched tone. But that's likely due to the thickness of the brass. It looks great on the wall by the bar, and the moment my brother-in-law saw it, he gave it a good ring, haha. Really happy with this. If you are paying less, you're likely getting way less - smaller bell, thinner brass. Get something good, and this one is pretty good. It looks the part and gives a good ring.

On a whim, I decided to buy a "dinner bell" rather than continuing to yell upstairs! After checking reviews, this item seemed the best for my purpose and the price. It is - and it's a fun addition to our household, looks nice and is quite loud for its size. So, I bought a second one for a birthday gift for someone who enjoys sailing. The bell arrived well packed and just as expected. My husband did use a couple of larger screws instead of the ones included since we mounted it on drywall. Would recommend -

Beautiful sound!

It’s a really beautiful bill and is very good quality. It has a real nice ring that travels far. The only problem I have with it is there are two small nuts on either end of the bolt that holds the mounting bracket and one of them worked it’s way loose within the first week of ringing it. I have a missing cat so I have been ringing it a lot. It fell off and is lost now. I tried to contact the manufacturer to have them send me just the nut, as I do not want to go through the hassle of returning the entire bell and then not having a bell to ring while I wait for another bell. I emailed to see if this nut could be sent, but I got an email back stating to reach out to Amazon for a return. It seems to be a costly method to get me a simple nut! I emailed back again and I am waiting to hear if a nut can be sent out to me. Much cheaper than doing a return of the entire bell and sending me another bell. Those nuts should be screwed on tighter so they don’t come off right away. I hope they will be able to just send me out this nut and I can be done with it. Other than that, I love the bell. I tested it with a refrigerator magnet and it is solid brass.
