I will need more details, however below is the detailed description: The MoCA works on another band of frequency from the cable modem, so they don’t communicate with each other - however their communication does not influence each other either. The built in filter on the MoCA adapter solves the problem of combining and splitting the signals. Tv and cable modem signals goes to the tv port in/out. To answer your question from what I understand - it works with the cable modem , however the source of the signal has to be from the cable modem.
