The PDR Family Guide to Prescription Drugs, 9th Edition: America's Leading Drug Guide for Over 50 Years

This book is basically the same as The PDR Pocket Guide to Prescription Drugs, except in a different format. The physical dimensions of this book is larger, not as many pages, and the print is somewhat larger. Information on drugs is taken from the same source (Physicans Desk Reference). There are some brief chapters in the back of this book on common medical problems. This edition was published in 2002 (so it was based on the 2001 PDR). I would suggest the PDR Pocket Guide because it is more recent and there is a new edition of the Guide due out soon. Nonetheless this is an excellent reference book to have in your home. For some people the format and size of the book and additional chapters may make this a good choice. It is just a little dated.

WE HAD FAMILY FRIENDS STOP IN FOR A VISIT, ASKED ABOUT SOME MEDICATIONS AND SHOWED HER THE BOOK AND WERE SO PLEASED WITH HOW CLEAR AND EASY TO READY AND UNDERSTAND. ASKED IF I WOULD PLEASE GET ONE FOR HER. I ORDERED , IT CAME VERY QUICKLY AND GOT IT TO HER AND NOW HEAR OTHERS WERE INTERESTED IN HER AREA. I CERTAINLY USE MINE FROM TIME TO TIME. EXCELLENT REFERENCE BOOK.

This is a useful guide to many drugs available these days. I find it interesting to read more than pharmacy sheets.

This book is nice to have, but goes out of date almost before you can get it shipped. It's what it is, and I like to have it around the house.

If you are a PDR kind of person, than you will understand when I say, "the PDR's now are nothing like they used to be, The older ones gave dates and facts about the prescription you where referring too. as well as all the facts to do with item, (critical importance) that made sense. thanks A.S.

This is an excellent resource for finding out about potential side effects of medications. It also lists health conditions in the back and what is generally prescribed. Highly recommend.

Sirs;I ordered this book with the undestanding that this was the latest edition. Unfortunately, it wasn't and far from it. I had a previous version which was about 10 years old and it was very good in covering the drugs on the markety at that time, but didn't include two of the drugs that are prescribed to me or the two replacement drugs suggested by my insurance company. The 9th edition didn't have any of these drugs listed (all very common drugs) either so it was a complete waste of money as far as I am concerned. Why would you market out of date publications without some advise as to the availability of a later version? Maybe I didn't look far enough when purchasing this version, but this is the one that came up in my search process in your web site and I presumed it was the latest one.Tom
