Christy - A New Beginning [DVD]

Please remember, that each of the original cast were asked if they wanted to return and finished the story. However, a lot of them chose Not to - including Kelly Martin ( Christy ) and Randall Batinkoff ( David).These newer Christy films were taken from Catherine Marshall's last known scribblings and notes she had written down for a sequel to the actual Christy Novel. "The producers drew Christy's ultimate romantic decision from notes for an unfinished sequel Christy novel that were discovered among Catherine Marshall's possessions after her death."While I too enjoy the original TV Series with Kelly Martin, I like these 3 new Christy movies just as much - if not more! :) I had been hunting down the DVDs of them and finally found them. Sadly with the Kelly Martin version, they did not stay faithful to the book in a lot of ways.I can highly recommend these newer Christy DVDs completely. They are: 1. Christy: Return to Cutter Gap, 2. Christy: A Change of Seasons and 3. Christy: A New Beginning

The movies definitely take some getting use to because of the character changes but are very good. This movies completes the story as you get to see the choice Christy makes, the doctor or pastor. This is a great addition along with the series and other movies.

I have to say that I did enjoy the movie, but found it difficult to believe in its realism (in comparison to the television series).Certain actors seemed to be either overacting or just not right for their parts. Dr. Neil McNeill (played by SFM)is one of five returning actors to the movie and he hold's the most realism in his character and acting. He is believable as the doctor, and although he appears as though he has aged considerably since the original series, he performance is flawless and enjoyable.Lauren Lee Smith who plays Christy was also pretty good. I found the transition from Kellie Martin to Smith was a bit difficult for me to accept, but in the end I was pleased with her performance. The character of Miss Alice was probably the most disappointing. She seemed the most fake and overacting to me, and although I'm sure the actress is top-notch, this part wasn't quite right for her.In the end, this mini-series combines a fantastic story with beautiful scenery and unforgettable characters. It's worth buying.

If you like romance, stories about life in the hills of TN around the turn of the 20th century, this is a family friendly movie that's just for you. The little boy who played Sam Houston was precious, wonder whatever happened to him?

It's good to see the final ending, after watching the complete series and 3 post-movies....Well done Look for clues as you are watching the movie to see how it turns out in the end....Love CHRISTY.....!!

This DVD is my very favorite. I hope I have all of the Christy DVD'S.The only one I need is "Christy, A Change of Seasons."Is it a different story than "Christy, Choices of the Heart", and "Christy, A New Beginning ?"

Love binge watching this series

It was hard to make the adjustment and transition from the original cast, particularly the Fairlight character was not the same warm understanding person from the original TV show or from the book. This would be more enjoyable to those who aren't familiar with the TV series.

I love it. Looking forward to the remaining two. Item received as described.
