Will this dock work if I'm using a case around my phone?

There are a few cases that work with the DEX. Most do not. The surround around the USB C connector is .7" wide. Most cases are only .52" wide where the USB C passes through. You can try to trim your case to .7" wide or more, but be aware the section of case between the 3 pass throughs may be too thin to do this without compromising the case. I have the Tech21 silicone case and it does not work without trimming. It also has connection issues as the butt of the case is pretty thick and the USB C just barely goes in deep enough to connect. Removing the case solves any connection issues, of course.

Will this work on hdtv ?

HDMI is HDMI. It'll work, but quailty will vary by TV.

Will Netflix or Vudu work on this thing? ill only get it if they will, either via the browser or apps?

As of 7/7/2019 Netflix work. Must confirm Reset App to get it to switch to full screen when launched and when stopped to check e-mail or texts or whatever. Minor inconvenience. As of same date, I get error saying it is not Dex compatible when trying to run Prime Video. If it works for you... please provide more info.. (Note9, Dex Station, all latest versions). Thanks!

Is it compatible with windows 7 or 8?

This accessory is intended for use with select Samsung phones such as the S8, S8 Plus, and probably the Note 8. The DeX does support remote desktop apps to connect to Windows or Mac computers, but this probably wasn't your question. The DeX also functions with non-samsung phones and possibly computers and such; I tested it with a Lumia 950 and it worked just fine.
