Roll Top Bath Exposed Chrome Pop-Up Waste

I ordered this to replace the existing Roll Top Bath Exposed Chrome Pop-Up Waste that was installed on the bath before we bought the house, as it was now leaking at the trap.Managed to visually identify this product as the same part and ordered it as a replacement.Nice piece of kit, everything seemed in good order with the parts received.However, 2 major problems arose:1) The new overflow pipe was way too tall to fit the overflow hole on the bath, and could not be adjusted so I had to use the old one.2) This is the bigger issue with this product - I fitted it and ran water through to test but was getting leaks in the same place as before! Long story short, the trap on this model is not welded/joined to the waste pipe, it screws into place.I tried screwing it in as tight as I could, but the drips still occurred.Pulled it all to bits, dried everything off and then wrapped everything with a thread in 2 layers of PTFE tape. (If you've not used PTFE before, check this video - it's really easy but the visual instruction is helpful in keeping it taught)Put everything back together and now there are no leaks. So by all means order this product, but not without PTFE tape!

Bought this as a replacement because it matched the other fittings in my bathroom.Not impressed with it at all. Because the trap is not deep enough, each morning I wake up to an awful smell of drains in my bathroom. Not recommended.
