Great design. Hard plastic for easy cleaning.
This nesting box is the answer to my problem. Easy to install and clean. Plus, my birds cannot perch on it so they cannot mess it up with poop! I have 3 messy lovebirds. Two of them always want to nest. I have a small nesting coconut hull that they use to nap in but they always prefer a larger nest. Over the years they have dirtied every single fabric hut I've provided. The main issue is they perch on the top of it and poop on it. No matter how often I clean it, how high I put it in the cage and no matter what I tried, I could not keep their huts clean. And the smell was horrible! I eventually have to toss out the hut and get them another one only for them to continue to poop and mess it up. I decided to do a search in Amazon and found this plastic nesting box. It looked good but I was skeptical. Still, the price wasn't bad so I thought I'd give it a try. Of course my lovebirds were terrified of it but they had no choice but to accept it. Once night fell, two of them went inside to check it out. I added some newspaper strips inside the box. Initially, I didn't install the green shade piece in front so they could get in and out of it faster. After a week, I installed the green shade piece and they love it even more. What is so great about this hut is 1) Its plastic so its easy to clean and 2) the top is rounded making it hard for them to perch on the top of it and poop. I've installed it at the top of the cage so there isn't much space between the top of the hut and the top of the cage. It comes with a small plastic perch on the outside and little round windows on the sides. You can use the plastic plug that comes with it to close up one of the windows but I left it off to give them more light. I absolutely love this wonderful product and more importantly my messy lovebirds love it too.

Great best box
Great nest box. I use for parakeets. Easy to clean and has held up much better than wood. Comes with the bowl shaped liner to keep chicks from getting splayed legs. The hooks on it are too wide for non-prevue cage, so I just inserted a bolt and washer through the extra perch hole on the back. Works great and didn’t damage the nest box.

Good enough
I bought 3 of this nests for my regular budgerigars (australian parakeet) and english bidgerigar. I bought them for regular budgies, but these boxes are big enough to hold an english hen with her little birds. My perception is that it is too big for a small size bird, but you cant use it for a middle size bird cause entrance hole is too small. Maybe the larger bird that will fit through that hole with some difficult is an english budgie. Even though, both english and regular budgies seems to like them.On the other hand, This nest is..- Easy to install- Easy to assemble- Easy to check- Easy to clean- Pretty Solid and stable if installed correctly on any cage- Visually cool enough- Easy to dissasembleOnly cons for me are:- To small entrance hole- Green cap let too much light go through it- Birds find difficult to climb from the inside because the hole is high, and there is not any place where they can step to get to it.

Fantastic nesting box for smaller species !
Perfect nest box for smaller species! I love everything about this box. It’s a good size for many smaller species of birds such as budgies, larger finches, lovebirds, Parrotlets, and Lineolated parakeets. The horizontal style offers good floor space for nesting birds and growing chicks. It’s Very easy to assemble and sturdy, with versatile mounting options. Another key feature is that the box can easily be sanitized after use as opposed to traditional wood boxes that can harbor bacteria and are very difficult to clean. The inspection door is well placed and easy to operate while still being secure.⚠️ My one small complaint on this box is the plastic insert that goes in the nesting area is very slippery and could cause issues with chicks getting proper traction, leading to splay legs. I would highly recommend sanding the entire plastic insert so that it’s no longer slippery and use appropriate bedding for species that do not construct a nest. Overall a very easy fix to an otherwise perfect nesting box.

Okay, but problems hanging
This is a nice size breeding box, 9" x 6" and 7" high. It's meant to hang on the inside or outside of the cage on 2 plastic hangers. However the hangers are too wide to fit between the bars of my cage. The width between the vertical bars is 1/2" and the hangers are 1/2" at the bottom, but taper up to almost 3/4". The only way they will fit is to bend the cage bars, or place it on the horizontal bars at a door opening. Some reviewers said they used tape, or set it on the bottom of the cage. I chose to put it in one of the two front doors of my flight cage. However, the door has to be at least 9" wide for it to work. Also, if it's hung on the door, it eliminates access to the cage through that door, which I don't like. The hangers are thick plastic and perhaps could be filed down, but I didn't try that. It's an easy to keep clean plastic box with an access door for viewing the eggs or babies. It has a plastic liner which is removable for cleaning, and I like that. The entrance hole is 2" in diameter, so it's big enough for parakeets or birds a little larger. There is a perch on front of the hole, and then a 4 1/2" drop to the bottom of the breeding box. It doesn't seem to bother my birds. The main problem is the thickness of the hangers. If you're cage bars are wider than 1/2" you'll probably like it. However wider bars usually mean larger birds, and they may not fit through the entrance hole.Update 2/17/2014: I adapted the nesting box using the information that one of the reviewers here, V. Hosman gave me. I also put a perch right in front of the nesting box, because it seemed like my parakeets had a hard time entering the box from the plastic perch that comes with the box.Update 3/24/2014: Well, the nesting box seems to work. My female has now laid 10 eggs, but none have hatched.
