The leaves have started to fall. The air is cold. Squirrel needs to get ready for winter. He cannot nibble with the mice. He does not have time to hop with the frogs or run with the dogs. Will this busy little squirrel ever slow down? Focusing on all the charming features of the fall season, this sweetly illustrated story features country animals, pumpkins, leaves, apples and other signs of autumn. Now available as a sturdy board book, the newly redesigned Classic Board Book logo calls out this title's seasonal theme on the front cover. Review: Engaging, predictable, and perfect for preschoolers with autism! - In my autism preschool classroom, The Busy Little Squirrel has become a favorite read-aloud. The simple storyline and repetitive structure make it especially accessible for children who thrive on predictability. Repetition & rhythm: The recurring question (โSquirrel, Squirrel, what are you doing?โ) helps students anticipate and join in, supporting language development and confidence. Visual support: Bright, clear illustrations provide strong visual cues, which are helpful for children who benefit from concrete images. Fun Fall Book
I teach infants and toddlers and was looking for a cute and quick book about Fall - this did not disappoint. The story was cute, there weren't an overload of words, and my kiddos loved pointing at the pictures and babbling.

Great spring board for discussing how animals get ready for winter.
Great book for preschool age children. Just the right amount of text. Beautifully illustrated.

He might have been a busy little squirrel but my littles were never too busy to hear it read.
I always focused in on the "he was so busy" on repeat in this book and my littles before they read loved to read along with each page and say "he was so busy" along with me. A great book about why a little squirrel is so hard working in preparation for Winter. Very well written and entertaining. One of my little boys favourite books to read again and again.

Stunning artwork, verse could have been better
My 1 year old loves this book - there are so many animals covered - she loves looking at the cat, owl and frog. I love the stunning artwork, love the other hidden squirrels in the background. The verse could have been better - the bird says "sweet sweet" instead of tweet tweet (could be a typo). The ending is quite abrupt.

every oddler in london should have one
My little boy just loves the squirrels in the park and when I got this book he was so excited and wants to read it several times a day. He is only 20 months, but this book takes a little bit of the park every where we go. Very nicely illustrated and an added bonus is there is a second small squirrel on every page (my boy noticed it!) which makes it fun to find every time. With London being so full of these wonderful creatures - I think every London toddler should have this book. Simple text, the squirrel sees different animals throughout the book. A great read.

The Busy Little Squirrel
Arrived quickly and in great condition. My three year old loves the story and the illustration - she particularly enjoyed watching what the squirrel in the background was doing. A nice way to explore seasons and woodland animals. My only gripe is that I thought squirrels buried things in the Autumn, but this book just shows the squirrel taking things back to his nest to store for the Winter. Also, we read that squirrels use their tails as a blanket to keep themselves warm when hibernating. It would have been nice if the illustrations included this.
