Pretty entertaining read in the dark (with a Kindle light)

I am one of the few readers who picked this book up *before* playing the 360 video game (which I have yet to get to). On it's own, the book does a very good job delivering the reader into the former paradise resort island, lost seemingly forever to hordes of the walking dead. I found that the characters were well fleshed out, the action sequences were very well worded, and avoided repetitive adjectives which can be a real story-breaker for repeated "interactions" as it were with the zombie masses. Both the preface mini-story introduction and the storyline's finale were really great, quite dimensionalized, and very, very easy to visualize in the mind's eye as one goes along.Reading this with my now aging Kindle 2, at night, in the dark with only my Kandle (a small LED booklight) to illuminate the reading experience was the best way to really read this book. I can't imagine how it would have been reading it during, say, the morning hours when the sun is up.My only suggestion for the author would be that this book "felt" like a $3 to $5 ebook. I think it's current price point is just a little high in it's e-book form (I would pay $10 for this in paperback). I would consider discounting this just a smidge - I suspect that a lot of potential buyers shied away from this particular book at it's current price of $7 and change. That notwithstanding, thanks for the great read!

Pretty fun read

I bought this book enjoyed it ,I have never played the game until after I read it. This was a fun zombie book that gives you info on some stuff from the game but is also fun to read and actullay has some good suspensful moments that will make want to read too the next page and keep on going. Some of my problems with it was the four main charecters are really sterotypical but you get past that. SPOILEr the ending was kind of disaponting. overall a good read for the price.

... Mark Morris translated this terrifying zombie game into a great zombie novel

I am really impressed by how Mark Morris translated this terrifying zombie game into a great zombie novel, which understandably is a very tricky job. His exploration of the characters and their interactions as they deal with their own demons and as they take on the zombie epidemic on Banoi makes for a terrific read. The gory action sequences are well measured and integrated into the story, there's no overkill in any aspect, and while it separates from the game mechanics in order to make a proper and well-written novel it is also excellently true to the game, making it an exceptional accessory to the games for fans.

Decent book but a horrible ending

Having played the game, I knew that I probably shouldn't expect much but I was curious how it would translate to a book. I pretty much got what I was expecting. The author did a decent job of creating a storyline for a game that doesn't contain much of a story. The characters are pretty one dimensional but my biggest gripe was the ending (or lack of one.)Instead of some big, explosive climax, the book just kind of ends with no clue as to what happened to the protagonists. After reading the entire book, the ending really made me feel like I wasted my time.

Well done.

The book gives everything what that game was lacking. Character background. And video game gave what the book did t have. All the awesome fights, missions, weapons. Together they are unbeatable. Best zombies ever.

Intresting attention grabbing book!

I love it! It has action, violence, and scary parts. You will enjoy it.If you have played the game but did not understand how it all started then I suggest you read the book. I was surprised at how great it was!

Good for a game book

This is a good adaptation of the game. It lacks the humour of the Borderlands books by John ShirlyBorderlands: The FallenBorderlands #2: Unconquered but the nature of the bames and charictors leave little room for that. The charictor of the main protaginists is faithful to the game, as is the locations, but there are a few changes to the classes of Zombie. This just makes the book a bit more realistic, rather than taking from it as exploding zombies is pushing things a bit. More could have been done with the side missions, but if they were all included then I would have some serious trouble fitting this in my map pocket. On the whole a good read well worth the price for those people who like books about zombie plagues on remote PNG islands with 5 star resort hotels and research labs and canibal infested jungles. Did I just say exploding Zombies is pushing it?Oh, and I forgot to mention. The ending sucks Gough.Big time.
