2016 Dreamtime is back! Smaller than expected when packed,Does NOT feel like you are on an air mattress. Glamping at its finest!
So my greatest concern was all the comparisons to the Exped megamat 10 and the potential for the loss of one inch of air space when compared to both the Exped and the Neo-Air Dream (the Neo-air Dream was the 2015 version of Dreamtime). Keep in mind folks, this is 2016 - the Dreamtime is back! Technically this is once again the latest version. So to all the doubters - I am 200 lbs, 5'11" and this truly is a dream to sleep on. The 2 1/2" self-filling air mat and 1" memory foam feel incredible. I am a side sleeper and no part of me sags to the ground. I have heard from some people the Exped still feels like an air mattress, albeit a well made one. Make no mistake about it - the Dreamtime does NOT feel like an air mattress. It feels like a bed to sleep on. A very comfy one at that. So full disclosure I own the threm-a-rest X-therm for hiking and now the Dreamtime for camping. As comfortable as the x-therm is, it still feels like an air mattress - even with the wonderful attempt to reduce motion sway of the pad when shifting with their side baffle technology. Comparing this to the x-therm is not a good comparison because of the classification of each pad type but man am I happy I have both. This Dreamtime is in a class of it's own. The 1" memory foam is the *perfect* amount of cushiness and beneath it - the self-inflating mattress is surprisingly solid and well made. I just let the Dreamtime take in air for 10 minutes and then top off the rest. Comparison tests show that much less air is needed to top off the Dreamtime when compared to the Exped. Comparing the XL Dreamtime to the Thermarest x-therm (regular) - the Dreamtime needs about half the air if you want to top off to full. Side sleeping is a dream. As to the size I was a little concerned that people were saying this is really large when packed. The Dreamtime XL size is exactly the same size as the Exped Megamat 10 when packed. The XL DOES come with a carry case which is very nice. The shoulder sling makes it easy for carrying. It is the same height as those standard fold out camping chairs with cup holders. The width is about double the width as one of those packed chairs. It would be super easy to carry this on your shoulder and bring to the campsite from your car even if a little hiking is involved. If you have any concern about the noise an air pad could make (like the 2015 Neo-Air dream for example) then take note: The Dreamtime is absolutely silent. Zero noise. Not a peep. Could not be happier with the purchase. Dreamtime is back in 2016!!!-TravP.S. - If you can - Get the XL. Lots of sprawl room and you can sleep with your arms outstretched. Just amazing.

and it did not disappoint. I slept like a baby and didn't have ...
Finally had a chance to bring this camping and try it out. Last year I was extremely uncomfortable on a thin foam pad and decided it would be worth it to get a nicer mattress, and it did not disappoint. I slept like a baby and didn't have any aches or pains the next morning. I wasn't able to compress it down enough to fit back into its original carry sack but it has straps directly on the mattress so it really doesn't matter how much you're able to compress it, the straps are adjustable and will fit whatever size you can roll it into. It's not an extremely small lightweight mattress, I probably wouldn't take it backpacking, but it was great for car camping where I only had to carry it to the campsite and was prioritizing comfort. I unrolled it and let it fill on its own while we went swimming, it only needed a couple of breaths to fill up to capacity. Honestly, I think I could have slept on it with the cap undone and not even bothered to blow it up, it's that thick and comfortable on its own. I did put a foam pad underneath it just because I already had one but I don't think it needed the extra padding at all. I'll probably use it again for guests sleeping over.

Can sleep on my side!
When this was on sale for $149.95 I got this mattress, and for that price there isn't anything I could find that's comparable when looking at the comfort level. Even at it's normal price this is hard to beat. The Therm-A-Rest Dreamtime will be used as my car-camping mattress for an upcoming US road trip, but I've had the chance to test it out first. Main points:1) It is very comfortable! When putting it on my floor, I can lay on my side without touching the ground (I'm a 5'10, 160lb).2) It has a good R-value for insulating against the cold. Last night it was 16 degrees Fahrenheit in Texas and I wanted to test it out for a night paired with my oversized sleeping bag in my car. The bottom of the sleeping bag stayed nice and warm! For those who will be sleeping next to someone else, you would want to buy another one and they should tie together with ease.3) It is not a backpacking sleeping pad because of the size and weight when compared to backpacking types (it's still light, just thick). Use only in situations where you don't have to carry it too far (For example: base camping or car camping)4) Someone mentioned that they replaced the 1" foam with 2" memory foam. Mine does seem to have enough extra material to make this change if I wanted to. The cover is not completely tight as some people have asked. However, I actually prefer this since I can make it even more comfortable if I want to (and may do in the future).Overall, if you want something that's comfortable & want to experience something close to a real bed when camping then this is a good buy.

A recommander !
